ABSTRACT

When forces are applied on the midpoint of bounded saddle RPD case, whether the case in short or long span case, these force induces stress in the abutment teeth, its periodontal ligament, and the supporting bone. The induced stress showed maximum equivalent stress in certain area in the above mentioned structures. These areas seen very logic to get these greatest values. These areas are the cervical margin of the abutment tooth towards the residual ridge, the bone and mucosa close to the cervical margins, the periodontal ligament at apex of the root towards the residual ridge, also area at the midpoint of the pontic [RPD], and the metal just below this area, where the forces is applied. Maximum equivalent stress are higher in the abutment teeth of long span than of short span case, while they are lower in both the periodontal ligament and the supporting bone of the long span than of the short span cases
