Bilateral proximal delta phalanges of hand: a rare case report with review of literature.

Delta phalanx or longitudinal bracketed epiphysis is a rare congenital anomaly that affects phalanges in the hand more commonly than toes. It results from a defective secondary ossification that extends longitudinally along the diaphysis and brackets the diaphysis and metaphysis, causing restricted longitudinal growth and resultant angular deformities. Although rare, longitudinal epiphyseal bracket most commonly manifests in the hands as clinodactyly and in the feet as hallux varus. Antenatal diagnosis of Thanatophoric dysplasia: a case report and review of literature.

Thanatophoric dysplasia is the lethal skeletal dysplasia characterized by marked underdevelopment of the skeleton and short-limb dwarfism. Foetus has short neck, narrow thoracic cage and protruberant abdomen. Other anatomical features include a relatively enlarged head with frontal bossing, platyspondyly, telephone handle femurs. Thanatophoric dysplasia is usually diagnosed using second trimester ultrasonography. We report this rare entity from rural India with emphasis on its anatomical features along with review of relevant literature.

Antenatal diagnosis of Patau syndrome with previous anomalous baby.

Patau syndrome is the least common and most severe of the viable autosomal trisomies with median survival of fewer than 3 days was first identified as a cytogenetic syndrome in 1960. Patau syndrome is caused by an extra copy of chromosome 13. In this case report, we present antenatal imaging findings & gross foetal specimen correlation of foetus with Patau syndrome confirmed by karyotyping in third gravida who had significant previous obstetric history of gastrochisis in monochorionic and monoamniotic twins who died at 14 weeks of gestation.
