ABSTRACT

To date, very few cases with intraneural ganglion cyst of the peroneal nerve has been reported. The common symptoms include localized pain and various degrees of motor and sensory deficits. Though electrodiagnostic study has been useful in lesion localization, recent imaging studies, such as ultrasonography and magnetic resonance imaging, should be used in establishing differential diagnosis and extent of a lesion preoperatively. Treatment can be achieved by microsurgical removal of the cyst. We had a 74 year old female with right foot drop for 3 months and we diagnosed that she had intraneural ganglion of the peroneal nerve using physical examination, electrodiagnostic study, ultrasonography, and magnetic resonance imaging. Although there was no specific symptom on the left side, there was a similar lesion like that of right intraneural ganglion, that was detected by ultrasonography. However, the patient's neurologic symptoms have not improved after operation.

ABSTRACT

This is a case report of a 61 years old man with suprasellar and pituitary metastasis from bronchogenic adenocarcinoma who developed polyuria and polydipsia. The clinical diagnosis has been made by bronchoscopy with washing cytology, biopsy of cervical lymph node, and brain MRI scan. Brain MRI scan showed metastatic tumor in the suprasellar area and pituitary gland with invasion of pituitary stalk. Light microscopic findings revealed adenocarcinoma in bronchoscopic washing cytology, and metastatic adenocarcinoma in the cervical lymph node. The combined pituitary stimulation test showed decreased reserve capacity of anterior pituitary hormones. And the water deprivation test also showed complete central diabetes inspidus. We report a case of suprasellar and pituitary metastasis from bronchogenic adenocarcinoma with a review of the literature.

ABSTRACT

Carcinoma of lung is classified by histologic cell type, this is based on predominant major cell population by tissue specimen. But in fact a range of 13% to 63% of lung cancer has been appeared to be heterogeneous cell type at the light microscopic level. After treatment of the mixed lung cancer and/or with time there are reports that cell type is changed. Because it is possible that the tumor were pleomorphic and that the antitumor therapy eliminated the more sensitive cell population and permitted the subsequent emergence of the more resistant cell population. The authors reported here, a case of 32 year old female patient with mixed lung cancer composed of three cell type, and this is the first case in Korea.
