ABSTRACT

The authors report a case of bacterial meningitis with pneumococcus resisting to penicillin. It concerns an 8 years old child, who presented since the age of 9 months with recurrent meningitis due to a malformation in the internal ear [Mondini malformation]. The pneumococcus responsible of this is a serotype 23 which is resistant to penicillin, the oxacillin and to the cephalosporins of 3rd generation [CMI=2ug/ml]. The improvement was obtained with great doses of vancomycin. In Morocco, the resistance of the pneumococcus to penicillin is close to 10% and it is especially made of an intermediary level of resistance

ABSTRACT

In this work, we report the case of a child who presents a chronic form of hereditary tyrosinemia type 1 the diagnosis has been confirmed by urinary excretion of excessive amounts of succinylacetone and of delta-aminolovulinic acid. The patient has received a symptomatic treatment of the renal tubular dysfunction and he continues a dietary restriction of phenylalanine and tyrosine. Live transplatation could offer hope for cure in this type of patients because if the diet has diminished the renal tubular dysfunction, it cannot alter progression of pathologic changes in the liver and it does not prevent the development of hepatocarcinoma

ABSTRACT

The authors present a restatement of the therapeutical managernent of primary tuberculosis in child. The short treatment is ideal, it lastes 6 months and is based on Combination of 3 drugs: Rifampicin, Isoniazide and pyrazinamid which must be used only on 2 months period. As for congenital tuberculosis, this paper suggests an attitude in accordance to the maternal tuberculosis

ABSTRACT

In this paper, we studied the resistance of haemophilus influenzae to the antibiotics by the production of Beta-lactamase. Among the 25 isolated strains from cephalorachidic liquid of newborn babies suffering from purulent meningitis, three are resistant to the ampicilline by producing Beta-lactamase. One of the three samples shows a multiresistance. It is particularly resistant to the chloramphenicol. In the lignt of these results and a review of the litterature, a therapeutic conduct of the H. influenze meningitis is proposed

ABSTRACT

Mental deficiency is frequent in paediatric practise. We have noted mental deficiency in 5,5% of the children going to the surgery for the first time, and in 1,5% of the hospitalized children. We have noted that the frequency of the antenatal causes [34%] and the perinatal causes [18%] particularly the neonatal suffering [14%], is increased. All the efforts must be done to take maesures of primary prevention of mental deficiency in our country
