ABSTRACT
Este estudo tem como objetivo verificar a opinião que os alunos de enfermagem têm em relação à pessoa idosa e às características do processo do envelhecimento e o que pensam sobre o seu próprio envelhecimento. Conclui da necessidade urgente de redirecionamento do ensino de enfermagem em geriatria, no sentido de fornecer subsídios aos estudantes de enfermagem para que possam refletir sobre seu próprio envelhecimento, bem como levá-los a repensar sua postura frente à pessoa idosa.
This study has as its gool to verify the nurse students opinion about aged people and about the characteristcs of the aging process. Furthermore, it has been verified what they think about their own ageing. Based on the obtained results, we came to the conclusion that there is a real and urgent necessity to redirect the nurse teaching concerning geriatrics. The reason for that is to provide the nurse students with subsidy which will enable them to reflect upon their own ageing as well as make them rethink their attitude towards aged people.
