ABSTRACT

ObjectiveThis study aimed to analyze the difference in setup error before and after correction of systematic error. To determine the most appropriate image-guided strategy during HT treatment, we use different scanning ranges and image-guidance frequencies in patients with nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) treated with helical tomotherapy (HT). MethodsFifteen patients with NPC who received HT treatment in Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center from October 2019 to February 2020 were selected. Megavoltage computed tomography (MVCT) scanning was performed before each treatment. After five times of radiotherapy, system-error correction was performed to adjust the setup center. The setup errors before and after the correction of systematic errors, as well as the setup errors of different scanning ranges and different scanning frequencies, were collected for analysis and comparison. ResultsWhen comparing the setup errors before and after the correction of systematic error, the differences in setup errors in the left–right (LR), superior–inferior (SI), and anterior–posterior (AP) directions were statistically significant (P<0.05).The different scanning ranges of "nasopharynx + neck" and "nasopharynx" were compared, and a statistically significant difference was found in yaw rotational errors (P<0.05). In the comparison of daily and weekly scan frequency after system-error correction, a significant difference was found in AP direction (P<0.05). ConclusionDuring radiotherapy for NPC, the systematic error can be corrected according to the first five setup errors, and then small-scale scanning was selected for image-guided radiotherapy every day.

ABSTRACT

ObjectiveTo explore the relationship between occupational stress, psychological capital and insomnia among nurses, and to test the mediating effect of psychological capital on the relationship between nurses' occupational stress and insomnia. MethodsStratified random sampling method was utilized in selecting 810 nurses from a tertiary A-level hospital from March to May 2021. The Effort-Reward Imbalance questionnaire (ERI), Psychological Capital Questionnaire (PCQ) and Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS) were used to evaluate the occupational stress, psychological capital and insomnia of nurses, respectively. Then the mediation effect of psychological capital on the relationship between occupational stress and insomnia in nurses was tested by PROCESS macro program. ResultsA total of 658 (81.23%) questionnaires were effectively collected. Analysis found that nurses' effort-reward ratio was positively correlated with AIS score (r=0.379, P<0.01), and negatively correlated with PCQ score (r=-0.275, P<0.01). Nurses' PCQ score was negatively correlated with AIS score (r=-0.402, P<0.01). Nurses' occupational stress could negatively predict psychological capital (β=-11.024, t=-7.324, P<0.01), and positively predict insomnia (β=4.117, t=10.478, P<0.01). Psychological capital could negatively predict insomnia (β=-0.087, t=-9.083, P<0.01). The predictive effect of occupational stress on insomnia was statistically significant with psychological capital introduced as a mediating variable (β=3.158, t=8.185, P<0.01). ConclusionPsychological capital plays a partial mediating role in the relationship between occupational stress and insomnia in nurses.

ABSTRACT

Molecular pharmacognosy is a science of classification and identification, cultivation and protection, and production of active ingredients of graduated drugs at the molecular level. The proposal of molecular pharmacognosy allows the research of crude drugs to advance from the microscopic level to the genetic level. Pueraria lobata root, as a medicinal and edible plant, has high application value and economic value. There are many varieties that are easy to cause confusion, and it is not easy to distinguish and identify according to traditional identification methods. Moreover, the research of P. lobate root at the genetic level is still relatively shallow. the study received extensive attention of scholars. This article reviews recent research on molecular identification of P. lobate, transcriptome sequencing, cloning and synthesis of functional genes of P. lobate root in recent years in order to provide references for further promoting the development and utilization of P. lobate root and its active ingredients.

ABSTRACT

The integration of standardized training of residents and training of professional degree postgraduates is a major reform in the history of medical postgraduate education in China. It's an important means to solve the shortage of compound, applied and high-level medical talents, shorten the cultivation cycle, and save educational resources. However, the existing Teaching Quality Assessment lags far behind the comprehensive reform of clinical medical education. On the basis of our own practice and drawing on the postgraduate education experience of other institutions, the tumor center of our hospital has initially established a system of management and quality evaluation for postgraduates with professional degrees in oncology, which is in line with the practical condition of our hospital's tumor center, trying to provide a reference for the overall construction of the quality evaluation system of postgraduate education in our college.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND@#Anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) rearrangement is a common driver gene of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Ceritinib is a second-generation ALK inhibitor, which can bring survival benefits to ALK-positive metastatic NSCLC. However, few studies focus on the safety and efficacy of ceritinib in China. Therefore, this study intends to investigate the safety and preliminary efficacy of ceritinib 450 mg with meals in Chinese patients with ALK-positive NSCLC through a real world study.@*METHODS@#From October 2018 to December 2019, patients with ALK-positive NSCLC from 8 medical centers in Sichuan province were recruited in this study. All of these participants received ceritinib 450 mg/d with food. The basic characteristics, adverse effects (AEs) and responses were collected and analyzed in order to evaluate the safety and efficacy of ceritinib.@*RESULTS@#A total of 109 patients were included in this study. Data cutoff was January 23, 2020. The median duration of treatment exposure was 5.87 mon (range: 0.4 mon-15.7 mon). Total AEs were reported in 98 (89.9%) of 109 patients and grade 3 or 4 AEs were reported in 22.9% of patients. Most common AEs (mainly grade 1 or 2) were diarrhea (60.6%), elevated alanine aminotransferase (ALT)(38.5%) and aspartate aminotransferase (AST)(37.6%). As of data cutoff, 45 patients discontinued ceritinib. The overall response rate (ORR) was 37.6% (95%CI: 28.5%-47.4%) and disease control rate (DCR) was 86.2% (95%CI: 78.3%-92.1%).@*CONCLUSIONS@#The treatment of ceritinib 450 mg with food for Chinese ALK-positive NSCLC patients had a good safety profile and favorable DCR in real-world setting. However, this conclusion needs to be further verified by large sample, prospective trials.

ABSTRACT

To systemically evaluate the efficacy and safety of Cinobufacini Injection in combination with platinum-contained first-line chemotherapy for treatment of non-small cell lung cancer(NSCLC). The randomized controlled trials(RCT) about the Cinobufacini in combination with platinum-contained first-line chemotherapy(versus chemotherapy alone) were collected through PubMed,Cochrane library,CNKI,VIP,CBM,and Wan Fang Database from database inception to December 2018. Two researchers extracted data and assessed the literature quality separately,and made a Meta-analysis by using Rev Man 5. 3 software. Twenty-seven RCTs were included in the present review,involving 2 125 patients,1 082 in treatment group and 1 043 in control group. The Meta-analysis results showed that as compared with chemotherapy alone,the combination of Cinobufacini and platinum-contained first-line chemotherapy could enhance one year survival rate(RR = 1. 34,95%CI[1. 17,1. 55],P< 0. 01),two year survival rate(RR = 1. 84,95% CI[1. 31,2. 59],P<0. 01),objective tumor response rate(RR = 1. 47,95%CI[1. 33,1. 63],P<0. 01); improve the quality of life for patients(RR =1. 54,95%CI[1. 37,1. 72],P < 0. 01); and reduce the incidences of WBC toxicity(RR = 0. 63,95% CI[0. 49,0. 80],P < 0. 01),platelet toxicity(RR = 0. 54,95%CI[0. 35,0. 84],P<0. 01),gastrointestinal reactions(RR = 0. 60,95%CI[0. 45,0. 80],P<0. 05),pain(RR = 1. 68,95% CI[1. 38,2. 03],P< 0. 01),and hair loss reaction(RR = 0. 76,95% CI[0. 59,0. 98],P < 0. 05). The results showed that for the treatment of NSCLC,the addition of cinofacini to conventional platinum-contained chemotherapy can increase the long-term and short-term efficacy of chemotherapy,improve the quality of life for patients,and reduce the side effects of platinumbased chemotherapy drugs. However,more high quality and large-scale randomized controlled trials are required to verify this conclusion in the future.

ABSTRACT

Background:Gastric xanthelasma is a benign and uncommon lesion with unknown etiology. It has been noted thatatrophic gastritis is frequently seen in patients with gastric xanthelasma. Aims:To investigate the relationship betweengastric xanthelasma and atrophic gastritis and its clinical significance. Methods:A total of 10645 consecutive patients whohad undergone gastroscopy from Apr. 2015 to Mar. 2016 at the Shanxi Provincial People's Hospital were enrolled andanalyzed retrospectively with respect to their demographic, clinical, endoscopic and histological features. Results:Theprevalence of gastric xanthelasma in patients recruited in this study was 2. 9% . The mean age and prevalence of atrophicgastritis (47. 9% vs. 16. 6% )were significantly higher and the gastric atrophy was more severe in patients with gastricxanthelasma than those without (P all < 0. 001). Multivariate Logistic regression analysis revealed that age ≥50 years(adjusted OR =1. 349,95% CI:1. 042 ~ 1. 747,P = 0. 023)and atrophic gastritis (adjusted OR = 3. 892,95% CI:3. 076 ~4. 924,P <0. 001)were independently related to the presence of gastric xanthelasma. Likewise, the prevalence ofgastric xanthelasma in patients with atrophic gastritis was significantly higher than those without (7. 9% vs. 1. 8% ,P <0. 001). Age- and sex-matched control analysis proved the correlation between gastric xanthelasma and atrophic gastritis(P <0. 001). In addition, multiple xanthelasma was more prevalent in gastric xanthelasma patients with atrophic gastritisthan those without (32. 0% vs. 13. 8% ,P <0. 001). Conclusions:Gastric xanthelasma is correlated with age and presenceand severity of atrophic gastritis. Atrophic gastritis might be one of the etiological factors of gastric xanthelasma, and gastricxanthelasma might be an atypical mucosal lesion caused by gastric atrophy.

ABSTRACT

Objective:To observe the changes of gene expression in peripheral blood mononuclear cells( PBMCs) of benign and malignant breast tumor based on gene expression profiling. Methods: Datasets of gene expression profiling were downloaded from the GEO database, including PBMCs profilings of benign breast tumor, breast cancer and healthy controls. GEO2R tool was used to analyze the data to identify the differentially expressed genes (DEGs). Function of DEGs were annotated by DAVID. Protein interaction analysis and hub gene select were then performed using STRING database. Results:563 and 237 DEGs respectively were identified. DEGs in breast cancer involved in biological process of leukocyte activation, angiogenesis and leukocyte transendothelial migration. The hub genes are IL8,RHOB,ITGB1. Conclusion:The data suggests that gene expression patterns of these two profilings are different at a certain degree. PBMCs maybe a better noninvasive material for biomarker detection of benign and malignant breast tumor.

ABSTRACT

Regulator of G-protein signaling 5 (RGS5) belongs to RGS family, which can negatively regulate the conduction of this signaling pathway.RGS5 mainly expresses in vascular pericyte, and is closely related to the occurrence, development and maturation of the blood vessels.Loss of RGS5 results in pericyte maturation, tumor vascular normalization, and these changes can improve the curative effect combined with chemotherapy and immunotherapy, indicating that RGS5 may become a new target of anti-tumor treatment. In addition,RGS5 involves in tumor metastasis and apoptosis, which can improve antineoplastic effect by inducing tumor cells apoptosis.

ABSTRACT

<p><b>BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE</b>Excision repair cross-complementing 1 (Excision-Repair Cross-Complementing 1, ERCC1), an important member of the DNA repair gene family, plays a key role in nucleotide excision repair and apoptosis of tumor cells. Protein kinase C-alpha (Protein kinase C, PKCalpha), an isozyme in protein kinase C family, is an important signaling molecule in signal transduction pathways of tumors, which has been implicated in malignant transformation and proliferation. The aim of this study was to explore the clinical significance of ERCC1 and PKCalpha in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC).</p><p><b>METHODS</b>The expression of ERCC1 and PKCalpha were examined by immunohistochemistry (IHC) in the specimens of 51 cases of NSCLC patients tissue and 21 cases of paracancerous tissue. The relationship between detected data and patients' clinical parameters was analyzed by SPSS 13.0 software.</p><p><b>RESULTS</b>The positive expression rate of ERCC1 and PKCalpha in NSCLC tissues was significantly higher than paracancerous tissues (P < 0.05). Expression of ERCC1 was closely related to clinical stage and N stage. The positive rate of ERCC1 was higher in III+IV or N1+N2 stage patients compared with I+II or N0 stage (P = 0.011, P = 0.015). We also found that 5-year survival of negative group of ERCC1 was remarkably higher than that of positive group by chi2 test (P < 0.05). Expression of ERCC1 was positively correlative to PKCalpha by Spearman's correlation analysis (r = 0.425, P = 0.002) in NSCLC.</p><p><b>CONCLUSION</b>The results suggest ERCC1 and PKCalpha might be correlated with the development of NSCLC. ERCC1 might be related to prognosis of NSCLC. There might be existed a mechanism of coordination or regulation between ERCC1 and PKCalpha.</p>
