ABSTRACT

ABSTRACT

Clinical stories between 1969 and 1984 of 127 patientes (192 feet) under surgery for equine-varus congenital resistant foot, with a minimum following of two years, had been checked. According to the type of treatment, three groups of analysis had been divided: Group I, of 43 children (69 feet) under surgery of posterior liberation or extendend liberation showed 65.1 por cent of satisfactory results,(excellent or good). Group II of 69 children (104 feet) under surgery of total correction of deformities, as posterior liberation, showed 76.8 por cent of satisfactory results. Group III of 15 children (19 feet) under surgeryin osseus parts or under salvation surgery as triple arthrodesis showed 66 por cent of satisfactory results. Radiographic studies as the position of plantar scaphoid the astragal calcaneus position are the mesures better correlated with the final clinical result. This work presents a review of literature about the different surgical management for this pathology and two well defined tendencies for the surgical teatment: restrictive surgery for the most apparent factor of resistant to the tratment and those that liberate all the component of the deformity only in a surgical time
