ABSTRACT

This is a revision related with fluoride water and other fluor sources present on diet, it is a comment on the modifications that such sources produce in the dental practice in an epidemiological point of view and caries incidence diminution that reach 60 por ciento and the almost dessapearing of proximal caries. The caries clinical expression included hidden decays risk in oclussal surfaces and a bigger fracture resistance of oclussal decayed enamel. At the high fluoride content in some foods like fishes, bivalve seafood and tea, we can add fantasy drinks, juices and soups prepared with fluoride water, where the fantasy drinks play a determinant role. You must consider the incorporation of fluor outside diet, like fluoride toothpastes, gels and rinses. The addition of different fluor sources during tooth development probably is related with more dental fluorosis. It is interesting to know that fluorosis affects children in fluoride and non fluoride areas, so the explanation could due at the incorporation of such ion in food and fantasy drinks elaborated with fluoride water
