ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the association of Lipoprotein(a) concentrations and patients with aortic dissection. Methods 27 pateints with aortic dissection were studied. Sixty age-matched and gender-matched patients with acute myocardial infarction and fifty normal subjects were served as control groups. The levels of Serum lipoprotein(a), plasm C-reactive protein, white blood cell count were compared between the three groups. Observed the changes of the levels of lipoprotein(a), C-reactive protein, white blood cell count 24 hours, 72 hours and 5 days after the initial of disease in eight of the patients with aortic dissection. Results 1. Median serum lipoprotein(a) levels of patients with aortic dissection, acute myocardial infarction and normal subjects were 327.35?89.23, 261.35?77.54, 79.69?21.63 mg/L respectively (P

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the Correlation between Plasma Total Homocysteine and Copper in Patients with coronary artery disease complicated with diabetes mellitus. Methods 31 pateints with coronary artery disease complicated with diabetes mellitus were studied. 36 age-matched and gender-matched patients with coronary artery disease not complicated with diabetes mellitus and 30 normal subjects were served as control groups. The concentrations of copper and total homocysteine was determined and compared. Results The concentration of copper and total homocysteine was significantly highter in the patients with coronary artery disease complicated with diabetes mellitus (18.8?3.5 ?mol/L、21.1?3.8 ?mol/L, respectively) than in the patients with coronary artery disease not complicated with diabetes mellitus (15.6?1.9、14.8?2.2 ?mol/L, respectively) (P

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the efficiency, safety and complication of transcatheter closure of large atrial septal defect (ASD) with Amplatzer occlusion device under the guidance of transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) Methods The study group consisted of 12 males and 9 females, age ranged from 17-45 years old, underwent transcatheter closure of ASD with Amplatzer occlusion device The diameter of ASD (balloon stretched diameter) was 30-36mm The Amplatzer occluder size was chosen to be 2-4 mm more than the balloon stretched diameter of ASD All cases were guided by TTE Results All cases were successfully treated under the guidance of TTE, the procedure successful rate was 100% No severe complication was observed except 1 patient with frequent atrial premature beats after procedure and disappeared 1 months later by drug Conclusion Transcatheter closure of ASD can be performed safty and effectively with Amplatzer occlusion device under the guidance of transthoracic echocardiography But it is necessary to perform TEE to examine the peri structure of ASD before procedure

ABSTRACT

The left ventricular (LV) myocardial remodeling process that occurs in various settings of congestive heart failure (CHF) had historically been attributed to intrinsic changes in the cardiac myocyte. However, it is now recognized that important changes also occur within the extracellular matrix (ECM) of the myocardium, contributing to the remodeling process. Matrix metalloproteinases are a family of proteolytic enzymes responsible for myocardial extracellular protein degradation.Several MMP species identified within the human myocardium may be dysregulated in congestive heart failure (CHF). The purpose of the present review is to present a brief overview of the matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) within the myocardium that likely contributes to myocardial remodeling,to examine the results from basic studies to explore relationship with respect to MMPs activation and congestive heart failure.-

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the therapeutic effects of recombinant adeno-associated virual gene serotype 1(rAAV1) mediated transfer of sarcoplasmic reticulum Ca2+ ATPase(SERCA2a) on beagle dogs with heart failure(HF).Methods The chronic HF model was reproduced in beagle dogs by giving rapid right ventricular pacing(230 beats/min) for 30 days.A reduced rate(180 beats/min)was continued for another 30 days.Sixteen beagle dogs were divided into four groups(4 each): control group,HF group,HF+EGFP group and HF+SERCA2a group. After rapid pacing for 30 days,rAAV1-EGFP(1?1012vg/ml) and rAAV1-SERCA2a(1?1012vg/ml) were respectively delivered via intramyocardial routes, while no treatment was given to the animals in both control and HF groups. At the end of the study, haemodynamics, echocardiography and the protein expression of SRCA2a were measured respectively. The apoptosis index of cardiac myocyte was evaluated by TUNEL.Bax expression was assessed by immunohistochemistry. Results After gene transfer of SERCA2a in HF beagle dogs for 30 days, the heart function was improved along with an increase in SERCA2a expression.Left ventricular systolic function was significantly increased, including the left ventricular systolic pressure(LVSP),left ventricular maximal rate of pressure rise(LV+dp/dtmax),left ventricular maximal rate of pressure decline(LV-dp/dtmax,P
