ABSTRACT
A hipoplasia de esmalte é resultado da formação incompleta ou defeituosa da matriz orgânica do esmalte, associada a fatores genéticos ou ambientais. Além de constituir um fator de prejuízo à estética, pode desencadear a hipersensibilidade dentinária. Portanto ao propor o tratamento deve ser avaliado o grau de perda de estrutura dos elementos dentais envolvidos. Nos casos de lesões superficiais, em que não há sensibilidade dentinária, o tratamento indicado seria apenas microabrasão, que removeria por completo as manchas superficiais. Casos de perda substancial de esmalte com exposição de dentina acarretará uma considerável hipersensibilidade. O tratamento deve ter como prioridade principal devolver a proteção dentinária para restabelecer a função e a estética.
The enamel hypoplasia is the result of incomplete or defective formation of organic matrix of enamel, associated to genetic or environmental factors. Unless a factor of injury to aesthetics, it can trigger the problem of dentin hypersensitivity. Therefore, the proposed treatment should be availabled the level of dental structure loss of the elements involved. In cases of superficial lesions, which there are sensitive dentin, the indicated treatment should be only a small abrasion, which removes completely the superficial stains. In cases of substantial enamel loss with dentine exposure, that results in a considerable hypersensitivity, the treatment's priority I should be return the dentin protection to restore function and aesthetics.
