ABSTRACT

Objective:This study was based on digital orthodontic diagnosis work flow for indirect bonding transfer tray model design and three-dimensional (3D) printing, and the aim of this paper was to inspect the dimensional accuracyof 3D printed brackets, which is the foundation of the follow up work and hoped that will illuminate the clinical application of the digital orthodontics work flow. Methods: The samples which consisted of 14 cases of patients with malocclusion from Department of Orthodontics Peking University were selected, including 8 cases with tooth extraction and 6 cases without tooth extraction. All the 14 patients were taken intra-oral scan (Trios 3Shape,Denmark)and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT, NewTom 3G volumetric scanner, Aperio Service,Italy)shooting after periodontal treatment.STL data and DICOM data were obtained from intraoral scans and CBCT images.Data segmentation, registration, fusion, automatic tooth arrangement, virtual positioning of orthodontic appliance and conversion the coordinates of malocclusion model were all done with self-programming software. The data of 3D printing model with brackets on it were output finally and printed out with EDEN260V (Objet Geometries, Israel) to make indirect bonding transfer tray.Digital vernier caliper was used to measure the length and width of upper and lower left brackets and buccal tubes on those 3D models after removal of surrounding supporting material by ultrasonic vibration and water-spray.Intra-examiner reliability was assessed by using intra-class correlation coefficients (ICC), and one-sample T test was used to compare the measurements with the standard dimensional data of the brackets. Results: There were significant differences which range in 0.04-0.17 mm between the 13 items out of the 19 measurement items.Except for the length of the lower left premolars''brackets, mean values of the other items were greater than the test value. Conclusion: Although the measurement results in the width of brackets and the width and length of the buccal tubes obtained experimentally were slightly larger than the test value, this may not reduce the accuracy of indirect bonding procedure in clinic necessarily.Whether the differences which range in 0.04-0.17 mm would actually affect the retention and positioning of brackets needs to be confirmed by further studies.

ABSTRACT

The present study aimed to study the effects of applying mixed probiotics in the feed on growth performance, antioxidant activity and immune function in yellow-feathered broilers.Three hundred sixty yellow-feathered broilers at 10-day-old were divided into 4 groups.Group A was fed with basal diets, group B with basal diets added 50 g/t mixed probiotics, group C with basal diets added 100 g/t mixed probiotics and group D with basal diets added 300 g/t mixed probiotics. Each group included 9 replicates(10 birds per replicates),and the experiment lasted 50 days. Results showed that group D got the highest average daily gain(ADG) of all groups, and compared with the control group A,ADG was increased by 4.11% (P<0.05).Group B got the lowest feed-gain ratio of all groups, and the feed-gain ratio was decreased by 4.58%(P<0.05) compared with the control group A.Group D got significantly increased duodenal villous length, serum antioxidant index and antibody titer(P<0.05) compared with the control group A.The effects of mixed probiotics on the growth performance, antioxidant activity and immune function were distinct in yellow-feathered broilers, and 100 g/t mixed probiotics was recommended.

ABSTRACT

Objective To screen strains of minipigs sensitive to highly pathogenic porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus (HP-PRRSV) for evaluation of HP-PRRS live vaccine. Methods Lantang pigs, Juema, Bama and Wuzhishan ( white) minipigs were inoculated with virulent strain NVDC-JXA1 of PRRSV, and local binary hybrid pigs were used as control. The animals were continuously observed for 5 weeks on mental status, appetite, survival, etc.after inoculation of virus. The dead pigs were autopsied and the lung tissue samples were collected for detecting virus by RT-PCR.By the end of the experiment, serum of survival animals were collected for detecting PRRSV antibody by ELISA assay.Result The animals showed depression, anorexia, and other clinical signs and death in each group after inoculation.Meanwhile, the testing results were all positive in the RT-PCR and ELISA detection.Bama and Wuzhishan ( white) minipigs were the most sensitive to virulent strain NVDC-JXA1 of PRRSV regarding mortality rate. Conclusions Bama and Wuzhishan ( white) minipigs are sensitive to HP-PRRSV, and can be used for the inspection of HP-PRRS live vaccine.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the expression levels of 8 - hydroxy-deoxyguanosine (8-OHdG) in patients with different glucose metabolism and its relationship with islet dysfunction. Methods Based on the 75 g oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT), the patients were divided into 3 groups: normal glucose tolerance (NGT) group (30 patients), isolated impaired glucose tolerance (IGT) group (28 patients), type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM) group (28 patients), and 30 healthy subjects were selected as the healthy control group (healthy control, HC) . The triglyceride (TG) and total cholesterol (TC), glycosylated hemoglobin (HbA1c), fasting blood glucose (FBG), insulin resistance index, insulin and c-peptide area under the curve (AUC) were detected, and compared between groups, and the correlation between 8-OHdG and these indexes was analyzed. Results There was no difference in FBG values between NGT group and HC group, the indicators of patients in other groups were higher than HC group, the difference was statistically significant (P 0.05) . 8-OHdG was correlated with FBG, HbA1c, HOMA-IR, C peptide AUC, insulin AUC, and the correlation coefficients were 0.704, 0.713, 0.665, 0.825 and 0.653, respectively, the differences were statistically significant. Conclusions 8-OHdG levels can reflect the status of islet dysfunction, and can be used as an indicator of islet function for diabetic patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective To study the changes of resistin and the relationship between resistin and other indexes in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus. Methods Seventy patients with type 2 diabetics were chosen and divided into three groups according to weight index and 15 healthy persons were chosen as controls. ELISA was adopted to determine resistin concentration. Oxydase method was adopted to measure blood sugar. Radio immunoassay was used to measure insulin level. Results Resistin concentration of patient groups r(23.06±9.34)μg/L ] was significantly higher than that of control group [( 9. 89±4. 47) μg/L, P<0. 01 ]. Resistin was positively related to body mass index (r = 0.4 467) and fat distribution (r= 0. 3 314, P<0.01). Resistin was also positively correlated to the area under the curve of sugar tolerance (r=0. 7 063, P<0. 01), negatively related to the insulin resistance index (r=-0. 4 154, P<0.01), but not related to area under the curve of synchronous insulin release (P>0. 05). And a formula was obtainted : Resistin=- 15. 869 + 0. 339×GAUC+0.790×BMI. Conclusion The level of reslstin in type 2 diabetics is higher. And reslstin is related to other factors. This formula is of great significance for clinical study of diabetic's disor- ders.
