ABSTRACT

A novel method was developed for the determination of the 15+1 European priority polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons in edible oil by online solid-phase extraction coupled with high performance liquid chromatography-ultraviolet/ fluorescence detection ( online-SPE-HPLC-UV/FL-D ) . The edible oil samples were diluted with isopropyl alcohol, and then filtered. The online extraction was performed on a solid phase extraction ChromSpher Pi column (80 mmí3 mm) and the separation was carried out on a C18 reversed-phase PAH column (250 mmí4. 6 mm i. d, 5μm) using ultraviolet detection at 220 nm and fluorescence detection. Isopropyl alcohol, acetonitrile and water were served as mobile phase in gradient elution. The results showed good linearity for the 15+1 polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons with all the correlation coefficients (R2)>0. 99. The limits of detection ( LODs ) were between 0. 03 and 12. 23 μg/kg. The recoveries of the sixteen components in the three levels of spiked samples were in the range of 65 . 3%-110 . 5% with the relative standard deviation (RSD, n=6) from 0. 1% to 9. 8%.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To observe the changes of pulmonary function and Notch signaling pathway of lung tissues in adjuvant-induced arthritis rats, and to investigate the mechanism of reduced lung function.@*METHODS@#A total of 30 rats were randomly divided into a normal group and a model group. Rats in the model group were induced to establish the adjuvant arthritis AA model by intradermally injecting 0.1 mL Freund's complete adjuvant into the right paw. After 30 days, we observed the paw edema volume, arthritis index, pulmonary function, histomorphology, and Notch receptor/ligand of the lung tissue.@*RESULTS@#Compared with the normal group, the paw edema volume, arthritis index, average expiratory flow within 0.3 s (FEV0.3/FVC), and the level of Notch3, Notch4 and Jagged2 of the lung tissue in the model group was significantly increased, while maximum expiratory flow at 50% of vital capacity (FEF50), maximum expiratory flow at 75% of vital capacity (FEF75), forced expiratory flow (PEF) and the expression of Notch1 of Jagged1 and Delta1 in the lung were significantly decreased (P<0.05, P<0.01). There were significant positive correlations between FEV0.3/FVC and Notch4. FEV0.3/FVC, FEF25, FEF50 and Notch3, Delta1 were negatively correlated, respectively (P<0.05, P<0.01).@*CONCLUSION@#While arthritis occurs in AA rats, pulmonary function declines and significantly correlates with the expression of Notch receptor/ligand. The deposition of immune complex in the lung after the injection of CFA activates the Notch signaling pathway, and results in further decline of pulmonary function by signaling cascades.

ABSTRACT

Aim: To investigate the enhancement of enhancers on matrine in vitro and in vivo. Methods: The permeability of matrine across rat intestine was determined by non-everted intestinal sacs model in vitro, and the in vivo activity was assayed in a model of acute liver injury in mice. Sodium deoxycholate (SDC) was selected as the enhancer Candidate. Results: Among the tested absorption enhancers, only polysorbate 80 (Tween 80) and SDC showed to be capable of increasing the transport of matrine through small intestinal mucosa in rats.Enhancement ratios of 1.6 was observed for 0.5% SDC solutions with the best absorption enhancement for matrine in vitro, it was chosen to conduct hepatoprotective study in vivo. In mice with acute liver injury, combination of matrine with 0.5% SDC demonstrated considerably more activity than matrine along after oral administration. Conclusion: The results indicated that the absorption of matrine could be significantly improved by the absorption enhancer.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the effects on intraocular pressure and blood pressure following anterior chamber paracentesis in acute primary angle closure glaucoma with high blood pressure. Methods 64 eyes of 64 glaucoma patients with high blood pressure were received anterior chamber paracentesis.the intraocular pressure and blood pressure were measured before and after paracentesis. Results The mean systolic blood pressure(SBP) and diastolic blood pressure(DBP) before paracentesis of 64 glaucoma were 195.10?15.24mmHg and 117.1?11.76mmHg respectively, after administration of paracentesis, the SBP and DBP were 138.82?20.86mmHg and 93.19?12.07mmHg respectively, the intraocular pressure also significantly decreased from 68.64?10.05mmHg to 10.66?4.41mmHg.There was statistical difference in SBP,DBP and intraocular pressure before and after administration of paracentesis. Conclusions Administration of paracentesis in acute primary angle closure glaucoma with high blood pressure can significantly reduce intraocular pressure and blood pressure simultaneously.

ABSTRACT

Objective To investigate the relationship between reading speed and center scotoma in age-related macular degeneration. Methods 46 eyes of 46 age-related macular degeneration patients underwent reading speed and center threshold examination, and the relationship was analysed. Results The mean reading speed was 183?60words/min,and had significant relationship with the deepness of the center scotoma. Conclusions The reading speed in age-related macular degeneration patient was decreased, and it related to the deepness of the center scotoma.
