ABSTRACT

Fast and high-throughput determination of drugs is a key trend in clinical medicine.Single particles have increasingly been adopted in a variety of photoanalytical and electroanalytical applications, and microscopic analysis has been a hot topic in recent years, especially for electrochemiluminescence (ECL).This paper describes a simple ECL method based on single gold microbeads to image lecithin.Lecithin reacts to produce hydrogen peroxide under the successive enzymatic reaction of phospholipase D and choline oxidase.ECL was generated by the electrochemical reaction between a luminol analog and hydrogen peroxide, and ECL signals were imaged by a camera.Despite the heterogeneity of single gold microbeads, their luminescence obeyed statistical regularity. The average luminescence of 30 gold microbeads is correlated with the lecithin concentration, and thus,a visualization method for analyzing lecithin was established.Calibration curves were constructed for ECL intensity and lecithin concentra-tion,achieving detection limits of 0.05 mM lecithin. This ECL imaging platform based on single gold microbeads exhibits outstanding advantages, such as high throughput, versatility and low cost, and holds great potential in disease diagnostics, environmental monitoring and food safety.

ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE@#To observe the effect of acupuncture on swallowing function and nutritional status of patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) dysphagia.@*METHODS@#A total of 56 patients with PD dysphagia were randomly divided into an observation group and a control group, 28 cases in each one. Both groups were given conventional treatment and swallowing function rehabilitation training. On the basis, the observation group was treated with acupuncture (filiform needling and tongue picking acupuncture). The acupoints of filiform needling were Lianquan (CV 23), Shanglianquan (Extra), Yifeng (TE 17), etc.; and the tongue picking acupuncture was applied at Jinjin (EX-HN 12), Yuye (EX-HN 13) and posterior pharyngeal wall. Rehabilitation training and acupuncture were performed once a day for 5 consecutive days a week, 2 weeks as a course of treatment, 3 courses in total. The swallowing function [oral transit time (OTT), swallowing response time (SRT), pharyngeal transit time (PTT), laryngeal closure duration (LCD)] and nutritional indexes [body mass index (BMI), serum albumin (ALB), serum prealbumin (PA), hemoglobin (Hb)] in the two groups were evaluated before and after treatment, and the clinical effects were compared.@*RESULTS@#After treatment, the paste and liquid OTT, SRT, PTT, LCD in the two groups were shorter than those before treatment (@*CONCLUSION@#Acupuncture-assisted rehabilitation training can improve the swallowing function and nutritional status in patients with Parkinson's disease swallowing disorders.

ABSTRACT

This study compared the therapeutic benefits and complication rates of small endoscopic sphincterotomy plus large-balloon dilation [ESLBD] with those of endoscopic sphincterotomy [EST] alone for large bile duct stones. We compared prospectively ESLBD group [n=63] with conventional EST group [n=69] for the treatment of large bile duct stones [>/= 15mm]. Mechanical lithotripsy was performed when the stone could not be removed using a normal basket. We compared the rates of stone removal, frequency of mechanical lithotripsy use, procedure-related complications, and recurrent stones. A total of 132 patients were reviewed in the study. The mean age of the patients was 67.9 years. The two groups showed significant differences in complete stone removal during the first session [80.9 vs. 60.8%; P = 0.046], the use of mechanical lithotripsy [7.94 vs. 24.6%; P = 0.041], and less duration of admission [P =0.045]. After ERCP, there were some instances of oozing in both groups, All patients recovered completely, 14 patients had recurrent common bile duct stones among the follow-up duration. The ESLBD technique seems to be a feasible and safe alternative technique for conventional EST and EBD and has no more Post-ERCP complications
