ABSTRACT

Se efectuó una intervención educativa comunitaria para modificar los conocimientos sobre VIH/sida en féminas mayores de 20 años, pertenecientes a un consultorio de Barrio Adentro en el estado venezolano de Vargas, durante el período comprendido de febrero a julio de 2006. De 540 mujeres en total se escogió una muestra de 32 por el método simple aleatorio. Entre las variables analizadas figuraron: edad, ocupación, nivel de instrucción, conocimientos sobre el tema, grupos de riesgo, vías de contagio y modos de prevención. En 6 encuentros didácticos se obtuvieron resultados satisfactorios en cuanto a la adquisición o incremento de la información relacionada con esa infección de transmisión sexual.


A community educational intervention was performed from February to July, 2006 in order to modify knowledge of HIV/AIDS in women aged over 20 years old, belonging to a doctor's office of Barrio Adentro from Vargas state in Venezuela. Out of 540 women, a sample of 32 was chosen through a single randomized method. Age, occupation, instruction level, knowledge of the topic, risk groups, routes of infection, and control ways were among the analyzed variables. Satisfactory results related to the information acquisition or increase about this sexually transmitted disease were obtained in 6 learning events.

Se realizó un estudio descriptivo y transversal para evaluar el estado nutricional de 118 lactantes menores de un año, atendidos por un grupo básico de trabajo en el Policlínico Universitario Josué Paí­s García de Santiago de Cuba durante el segundo trimestre de 2010 y pertenecientes a 4 consultorios médicos. Entre las variables analizadas figuraron: edad, sexo, talla, peso al nacimiento y tipo de lactancia. Se halló una evidente primacía de niños y niñas con estado nutricional normal, de los alimentados con leche materna exclusiva y de los que nacieron con peso adecuado para la edad.


A descriptive and cross-sectional trial was carried out during the second three-month period of the year 2010 in order to assess the nutritional condition of 118 infants under 1 year old belonging to four doctor's offices and who were attended at Josué País García University Polyclinic from Santiago de Cuba by a basic working group. Age, sex, size, birth weight, and breastfeeding type were the variables analyzed. A noticeable predominance of normal nutritional condition in both boys and girls fed using exclusive breastfeeding and in those who were born with an adequate birth weight according to his/her age was found.
