ABSTRACT

Foram coletados 48 amostras de água provenientes de caixas d'água comunitárias, de torneiras localizadas em escolas e residências e de fontes, rios e poços, para a determinaçäo do número mais provável de coliformes através do método dos tubos múltiplos. As amostras foram captadas em diferentes Bairros Rurais do Município de Eldorado pertecentes ao Parque Estadual de Jacupiranga e apenas duas delas näo demonstraram contaminaçäo por coliformes. A densidade de coliformes nas amostras de água foi considerada elevada e associada à facilidade e rapidez com que a matéria de origem fecal humana e animal atinge os recursos hídricos, bem como a práticas agrícolas inadequadas, falta de mata ciliar, monocultura de banana nas montanhas e bordas dos rios, clima chuvoso, pobreza, baixa qualidade de vida e nível educacional da populaçäo. 48 water samples from community water boxes of schools,houses,shops and faucets,forest springs,rivers and wells,were taken for the coliform most probable number determination by using the multiple tubes method.The samples were obtained from several rural districts of the Jacupiranga State Park (Eldorado Municipality-SP),only two of them did not show coliform contamination.The density of coliforms in the water samples was considered high and associated with the faciIity and speed of the human and animal fecal matters to reach the hydrous resources, as well as, the agricultural malpractices, lack of ciliar forest,banana monoculture on the hills and edges of rivers, rainy weather, poverty, poor quality of life and low educational level of the population.
