ABSTRACT
A solução reabilitadora ideal a ser escolhida quando o paciente sofre de doença periodontal avançada sempre foi um dilema na Odontologia. O tratamento somente da doença periodontal não restabelece ao indivíduo sua estética e função satisfatórias. A capacidade biológica dos dentes comprometidos periodontalmente de sustentar próteses parciais fixas foi, ao longo dos anos, demonstrada em vários estudos. O objetivo deste artigo foi comparar, através de uma revisão de literatura, a eficiência e os benefícios do tratamento restaurador para esses pacientes com exodontias múltiplas e implantes e próteses periodontais. Pode-se concluir que: 1) o tratamento com próteses periodontais é viável e demonstra índices de sucesso desde que se obedeça a critérios como design da prótese, adaptação marginal e controle de higiene do paciente; 2) os implantes osseointegrados com instalação de prótese parafusada em carga imediata também são satisfatórios e demonstram ser uma opção de tratamento para esses pacientes.
The choice of the ideal rehabilitation solution when the patient has advanced periodontal disease has always been a dilemma in dentistry. If the treatment focus only the periodontal disease it does not restore to the patient satisfactory aesthetic and function. The biological capacity of periodontally compromised teeth to support fixed partial dentures has been demonstrated, over the years, in several studies. The aim of this paper was to compare, through a literature review, the efficiency and benefits of restorative treatment for these patients with multiple extractions and periodontal implants and prostheses. What one might conclude is: 1) treatment with periodontal prosthesis is feasible and demonstrates success rates since it meets the criteria as: correct design of the prosthesis, marginal adaptation and patient's hygiene control, 2) the osseointegrated implants with the installation of screwed prosthesis in immediate loading are also satisfactory and show to be another treatment option for these patients.
