ABSTRACT
Introduction: having an intellectually disabled child imposes many physical, mental, and social predicaments on the family. Appropriate interventions to improve attitude and create constructive caring behaviors can greatly support those families and provide them a healthier quality of life. This study conducted to determine the effect of the educational intervention on the attitudes and behaviors of family caregivers caring for children with intellectual disability
Method: this study is a randomized, controlled, intervention study conducted in Narges rehabilitation center, Miyaneh in 2013. A total of 64 caregivers of children with intellectual disabilities aged 6-18 years were randomly divided into two groups. Intervention group received training classes [6 sessions] but control group did not receive any intervention. Data were collected based on the researcher made, behavior and attitude questionnaires at beginning and the end of the study. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 21, paired t-test, t-test, and chi square
Results: mean score of attitude and behavior in both groups was not statistically significant before the intervention. However, 90 days after the intervention, attitude and caring behavior of caregivers in the intervention group increased significantly [P<0.05]
Conclusion: educational intervention improved attitudes and behaviors of family caregivers significantly. Therefore, authors recommend further studies to evaluate the effectiveness of this model on other chronic conditions
ABSTRACT
Attitudes play an important role in directing human behaviors to goals, being aware of outcomes and efficient processing of complex information about the life world. People preparedness for accepting and supporting mentally ill persons has a great impact on patients' successful integration in the society. The study aimed at assessing the attitude of nursing students toward mental illnesses. In this descriptive-analytical study, a census sample of 153 nursing students who were studying in second semester was participated [Total numbers of study population]. Data was gathered using a two-part questionnaire consisted of demographic characteristics and a 34 items questionnaire on attitude toward mental illnesses [OMI]. Data were analyzed by SPSS [version 11.5] software. The results indicate that participants' mean scores of OMI, was higher than the test's average score and students had a positive attitude toward mental illnesses [117.44 +/- 13.18]. One-way analysis of variance showed a significant mean difference among students in different education years [F=6.69, P=0.001]. In general, nursing students didn't believe much on isolation, restrictions, hiding the illness and stigmatization but on sympathy and compassion, good treatment progress and some stereotypical negative behaviors of patients. Even though students' positive attitude was higher than the average score, but considering negative attitude in having stereotyping thoughts on mental illnesses, there is a need for more attention of nursing instructors in including profound discussions in order to recognize the sources of such attitudes and correcting them through educational plans
ABSTRACT
Nurses expend some of their times daily to Patients' education and responding their questions in the hospitals wards. Although these actions are performed in an uncontrolled way and uncoordinated between therapeutic teams but have a vital role in fulfillment of patients' and their families' educational needs. The question is if all patients' and their families' educational requirements are provided in a well organized and comprehensive method? With referring to attending and expert bodies in hospital an educational system was planned and suggested. It was called as patients' in ward education. Various dimensions of this program is determined in detail like; administrative characteristics, manpower needed, necessary equipments, educational items characteristics, and personnel's responsibilities. By implementation of this program and considering all manpower and equipments needed, organization will be able to provide high quality patients' education. Finally it will end to a better level of health status

NHP is a position that depends on morphology and figure of every body. The purpose of this study was measuring cephalometric norm in NHP to compare four anteroposterior analyses ofCooke, Wits, Reidel and Sassouni in NHP and determining their consistence with clinical status. This study was a cross sectional study and the data collecting method was direct observation and lateral cephalomteric radiography using informational forms. In this study 40 high school student girls with normal occlusion and the age between 16-18 years old with an avarage of 17.3 years old were selected from different districts of Mashhad through random cluster sampling. From each student one lateral cephalometry [with permission from the parents and students] was taken in NHP position. The data were analysed using SPSS statistical software [Fisher's exact test in two way cross tabulation] 1.Cooke, Wits, Reidel and Sassouni showed 85%, 75%, 70% and 32.5% concordance with the clinical status respectively. 2. In comparison between Wits and Reidel analyses, the difference was not significant. P-v>0.05 3. In comparison between Cooke and Wits analyses, the difference was not significant. P-v>0.05. 4. In comparison between Wits and Sassouni, the difference was highly significant.P-v<0.01. 5. In comparison between Reidel and Sassouni, the difference was highly significant. P-v<0.01 6. In comparison between Cooke and Sassouni, the difference was highly significant. P-v<0.01. In this study statistical evaluation justifies more concordance of the anteroposterior analysis of Cooke, Wits and Reidel with clinical status but Sassouni analysis can not be considered as a reliable method In comparing the upper methods from view point of reliablity, Cooke seems to be the most reliable analysis followed by wits and Reidel analyses
