ABSTRACT

Thyroid is a rare localization of tuberculosis. The clinical course of the disease may resemble toxic goiter or acute thyroiditis or may follow a subacute or chronic pattern without specific symptomatology. We report the case of a 37 year-old woman referred to the hospital with a diagnosis of goiter without clinical signs of tuberculosis. The diagnosis was established after total thyroidectomy and histological exam. Six-month treatment with antituberculous drugs was administered with a good outcome

ABSTRACT

The aim of this prospective study is to analyse causes and management in 200 diabetic patients with ketosis or ketoacidosis. The result show that ketosis reveals diabetes mellitus in 34% of cases, occurs in diabetic type 2 in 34.5% of cases and in insulin- treated patient in 32.5%. A preciptiating event of ketoacidosis was found in 127 patients. In 76% of cases only classic symptoms of diabetes mellitus were present. Parenteral rehydratation was required for 32 patients and a supplement of bicarbonate was necessary for only 5 out of the 32 patients. Ketoacidosis required an average hospitalisation time of 7.2 +/- 2.6 days and an average resuscitation of 5 hours. So an early diagnosis and treatment of ketoacidosis can avoid serious complication

ABSTRACT

This retrospective study on the microalbuminuria has interested 85 non insulinodependant diabetic patients. The critical value [14 mg/24 hours] was determined in 46 controles. We observed a high prevalence of microalbuminuria [34,11%] in the diabetic population studied. The long evolution of diabetes and the presence of a hypertension were determinant factours in the onset of the microvacular, whose presence seems to be related to the onset of minollaswlar complications retinopathy, neuropathy.] The microalbuminuria in patients becomig insulinodependant 33,87 +/- 26,18 mg/24 h] was significanthy Ihiger than those of patients wiber oral autilenabetes [14,92 +/- 19,31 mg/24 h] The micro albuminarua coulbe an early marker of micro and macrovasuilar lesions of diabetes, uirth therofore the necessity of its systematie research
