ABSTRACT
48 cases of appendiceal mass are reported and the results of their management, at first deliberately non-surgical, are discussed. 38 patients [75%] had an uneventful course and were discharged after a mean hospital stay of 11 days. 10 patients developped an abcess, requiring secondary drainage. Operation was decided mainly on the non-effectiveness of antibiotic therapy after 48 hours. This put together with recent publications appear to correlate our choice
