ABSTRACT

Each organization is created based on the response to a demand and moves to especial goals. In a competitive situation, with development and complexity in objectives, processes and organizational structures, surviver organizations will be those who are more accountable to their client and stakeholders needs and also pay attention to profitability as a key index for organization. EFQM excellence model, with focus on quality of products [goods or services] and member participation is capable of satisfying customers; and with emphasis on creativity and innovation, promote individual and group learning. This article describes foundation and principles of the model and its functions, first, and then discuss about self assessment, the advantages of using this model in organizations and the role and importance of it in organization excellence

ABSTRACT

Internal efficiency indicators will be able to present the quality of higher education, quantitati-vely through assessing the interaction between inputs, processes, and outputs. This could be used as a compiled, scientific, and institutionalized evaluation system in universities. This study was carried out to compile internal efficiency indicators in Medical Sciences Universities. In a descriptive study, at first all performance indicators were collected and categorized through literAutre review. Then, a checklist including 8 areas and 152 indicators was developed based on instruct-tional design studies and using theoretical definition model and focus group discussion. The checklist was delivered to 50 educational experts in Isfahan University of Medical Sciences who were selected purpose-fully. Data was analyzed by SPSS software using frequency distribution tables. In experts' viewpoints, all 152 indicators in 8 compiled areas had four essential criteria of an indicator including possibility of planning, evaluation, measurement, and quality promotion, and were assessed as desirable. They were identified appropriate for the evaluation of internal efficiency in universi-ties of medical sciences. In accordance with the country's political, social, and cultural situations, internal efficiency evaluation indicators, introduced in this study, could be used as a tool for comparing present and optimal situation in universities. More over, they can be used for the evaluation and accreditation of medical universities and help the managers to promote educational quality

ABSTRACT

Summary: Health and happiness of the members of a society is the biggest asset of a country for social developments and economic prosperity. A person's health has several dimensions one of the most important of which is the physical health; and among the vital organs, heart plays an important role in maintaining such health. Coronary arteries diseases and the ensuing myocardial infarction are among the most common causes of death in human beings in many countries around the world including Iran. Teaching health behaviors such as balancing the diet, having regular exercises, quitting cigarette smoking, and management of stress are among the solutions for preventing, caring, curing and returning the patient to the physical, mental and social status he/she had before being afflicted by the disease


Methods In a case study, 60 hospitalized patients were chosen based on random sampling and were divided into two groups- control and study- each consisting of thirty people. To gather the data, along with using reliable documents, [patients medical records] a questionnaire was given during the interviews sessions as a pre test and posttest. The questionnaire was given to the study group and it was about the plan for following up health behaviors in the four areas of nutrition, physical activity, smoking and stress before being discharged from the hospital, and a follow up plan for the second, the fourth, the sixth, and the eighth weeks after being discharged. No interference was done to the control group. At the end of the sixteenth week, the acceptance of health behavior and the change in lifestyle by the study group were measured through a questionnaire, and the data thus obtained was analyzed-using the SPSS software~ by employing statistical descriptive methodology


W- Results The results of the research study showed that there was not a meaningful difference among the factors making up the lifestyle in the control and study group at the beginning of the study. However, patient training caused the acceptance of health behaviors in the three areas of nutrition, physical activity and tress, hence public health, but it did not have any positive effects on smoking


DiscussionTraining health behaviors before discharging patients from the hospital and a follow up program at his/her home will cause a change in the lifestyle of some people

ABSTRACT

Since health care centres do not have developed plans to control fire accidents, the manager's knowledge, skills and attitude can play an important role to increase the hospital efficiency to fight fires. This is a desciptive, cross-sectional study which was carried out in educational and non-educational hospitals affiliated to Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. The study lasted six months and the data were collected by a researcher-made questionnaire. To analyze data, K2 Pearson and Spearman tests were used. The findings revealed a mean of 27.63 +/- 7.36 out of sixty. According to the results, the hospital manager's knowledge of crisis management was weak
