ABSTRACT

Liposarcoma is one of the most common primary neoplasms of the retroperitoneum. Mesenteric liposarcoma is rare, and to the best of our knowledge, only five cases of liposarcoma of the mesocolon have been reported in the English literature. The objective of this article is to represent a large well-differentiated liposarcoma of the sigmoid mesocolon [50x40x10 cm] in a 35-year-old man. Based on Medline search, this case is the largest case of liposarcoma of the sigmoid mesocolon reported in a relatively young patient

ABSTRACT

Ovarian Burkitt's lymphoma is rare in adulthood. Metastatic spread from ovarian malignancies occurs most commonly to the peritoneum, with nodular thickening of the peritoneum and serosal surface of the bowel, omental thickening [omental cake] and ascites. Metastasis to the para-aortic lymph nodes and liver has also been reported. Nonetheless, to the best of our knowledge, metastasis to the retroperitoneum has not still been reported. Herein, we reported an ovarian Burkitt's lymphoma in a 20-year-old woman who presented with ascites, large bilateral ovarian masses, peritoneal and retroperitoneal metastasis. In evaluating any ovarian neoplasm with retroperitoneal metastasis in a young woman, Burkitt's lymphoma should be considered as a possibility

ABSTRACT

Hydatid disease is one of the commonest parasitic infections of the liver, rupture of which into the peritoneal cavity leads to secondary echinococcosis. Seventy percent of hydatid disease cases occur in the liver, although any organ may be involved. A case of omental and retroperitoneal hydatid disease along with the hydatid cyst of the liver is present

ABSTRACT

Observation of ossification centre of distal femoral epiphisis in fetus by ultrasonography can be used to estimate the gestational age. To find the observation percentage of ossification center of fetal distal femoral epiphysis by sonography in pregnant women between 29-40 weeks of pregnancy. A total number of 395 women between 29-40 weeks of pregnancy were examined by sonography in Kerman University hospitals [1998-1999]. The mean gestational age to observe this centre was 34.1 weeks with 3.5 weeks standard deviation. Gestational age was significantly correlated with appearance percentage of ossification center of distal femoral epiphysis [p <0.001]. The center was visible in all fetuses from 36th week afterwards, and in 58.8% it was seen in 29th week of gestational age. The findings indicate earlier appearance of distal femoral epiphysis of fetus comparing other studies
