ABSTRACT

Single or multiple hemorrhagic ulcerated swellings of various sizes were found pertaining to the anus of ten mixed breed dogs. The thoracic and abdominal cavities as well as the lymph nodes were clinically and radiologically free from metastasis. The anatomical location and the characteristic histopathological findings of presence of hepatoid cells confirmed the diagnosis. Also, microscopic dogs revealed testicular atrophy but testicular neoplasia was not observed. The treatment of choice was accomplished by surgical excision of these tumors and castration of males under general inhalational anesthesia. High tendency of bleeding was observed during surgery. The prognosis was favorable, with no recurrence in castrated dogs, while recurrence was evident in noncastrated ones. However, latent castration subsequented with dramatic regression of these tumors
