ABSTRACT
This retrospective study was performed to determine the prevalence of tumours in Bahawalpur, Pakistan. The record of the Pathology Department of Quaid-i-Azam Medical College, Bahawalpur, was reviewed and cases reported during the five year period 1984 to 1988, were selected for this purpose. The analysis of data showed that of the malignant tumours, the most common site pertained to the gastro intestinal tract. The second most common site was the breast followed by tumours of head and neck region and lymphoreticular system

Separate and combined effects of methotrexate and total body irradiation were studied on normal lungs of mouse. Forty female albino mice weighing 25 to 30 gms were divided into five groups including that of controls. On gross inspection, 70% of lungs of combined therapy group showed signs of congestion, 10% edematous changes; and 20% blackish mottling. Microscopic examination revealed marked histopathdogical changes in the lungs of combined therapy group and milder changes in the methotrexate [Group III] and total body irradiation [Group IV] groups.
