ABSTRACT
TA [OPr[i]]4 [SB], Ta[OP[i]]3 [SB]2 and Ta [OPr[i]]2 [SB]3 [where SBH represents the monobasic bidentate aldimine molecule] types of tantalum aldimine complexes have been synthesized by 1:1, 1:2 and 1:3 [M:L] molar reactions of tantalum penta - isopropoxide with aldimines derived by the condensation of salicylaldehyde with o-methylaniline and n-butylamine and benzaldehyde with semi carbazidehydrochloride and thiosemicarbazide. These are obtained as colored solids or semisolids and behave as non-electrolytes in anhydrous DMF. Suitable structures based on elemental analysis, molecular weight determinations, conductance measurements and infrared electronic and proton magnetic resonance spectral studies together with magnetic measurements are indicated for these complexes
