ABSTRACT

We present our 2 years experience of performing simultaneous release of both upper and lower eyelids in post-burn ectropion in 29 patients [followed-up for 2 to 20 months]. Over-correction was achieved in all the cases. Only 4 patients needed secondary release later on. It has been observed that simultaneous upper and lower eyelid release is equally effective when compared to the classical approach of single eyelid release at one operative session. It reduces patient's morbidity and is also more cost-effective

Patients were followed up for 6-94 months; [mean 40.5 months]. Results of various flaps are compared along-with a review of literature

ABSTRACT

Incisional hernias present a significant surgical problem. In a 2 year study 48 patients with incisional hernia or one of its complications were evaluated. Male to female ratio was 3:4 Incisional hernias appeared predominantly during the first year after surgery [42 patients i.e. 88%]. Majority of incisional hernias [69%] had developed following emergency procedures History of wound infection in post-operative period was present in 27 patients [56%]. A significant percentage [29%] followed lower midline incisions. If proper technique of wound closure is adhered to and wound infection is prevented, the incidence of incisional hernias could be greatly reduced
