ABSTRACT

Critical micelle concentrations [cmc's] of the ionic surfactant dodecyltriethanolammonium iodide have been studied spectrophotometrically in water-ethylene glycol [EG] mixtures [XEG = 0.0, 0.093, 0.120, 0.290, 0.552 and 1 at 25, 35 and 45C]. The equilibrium model of micelle formation is selected to determine the thermodynamic parameters delta G, delta H and delta S. An interpretation of structural changes in H2O-EG system has been suggested

ABSTRACT

Limiting transference numbers [t[x-]] of some s-n-alkylisothiouronium salts [[s-n-Ris] +X-] where R = Me, Pr, Bu, Am, Hept. and Oct. while X = Br-,I and Pi have been determined in some pure alcohols such as ethanol, n-propanol and n-butanol, and in the dipolar aprotic solvents dimethyl sulphoxide and dimethyl formamide at 25°C. The calculation was carried out by knowing the limiting ionic conductances of these ions obtained from the previous work [1-3]. The solvation numbers for the same ions have been also estimated by using Gill's equation

ABSTRACT

This report deals with 354 patients with chest injuries. Cardiac injuries [23 patients] are excluded and will be discussed in a separate report. The striking feature in this series is the high incidence of stab wounds with knives. The clinical picture and management of different types of chest injuries are discussed with special stress on flail chest and thoracic-abdominal injuries
