ABSTRACT
Este estudo tem como objetivo discutir a ambivalência na conduta familiar frente a inclusão profissional de jovens e adultos com deficiência mental. Constitui um relato reflexivo da prática no atendimento psicológico realizado no Centro de Capacitação e Orientação para o Trabalho "Joaquin Burin", na APAE de São Paulo, por meio de recortes de falas dos próprios capacitandos e dos familiares. Partindo da abordagem sistêmica da família, observou-se que a ambivalência de sentimentos da família em relação ao jovem com deficiência pode obstruir seu percurso profissional. Essa ambivalência irrompe em atitudes tanto hostis quanto excessivamente protetoras, revelando o conflito entre o não reconhecimento das capacidades produtivas da pessoa com deficiência de um lado, e a crença na superação das limitações impostas de outro. Assim, os ganhos promovidos pelo trabalho tendem a ser vistos com desconfiança nas famílias em que se mantém fixos os estereótipos relativos a deficiência mental.
This study has the purpose to discuss the ambivalence how families behave when facing the professional inclusion of young and adults with mental retardation. It brings out a reflexive report on the performance of the psychological appointments that took place at the Centro de Capacitação e Orientação para o Trabalho Joaquim Burin at APAE de São Paulo, using quotes from the treinees and their family members. Based on the family systemic point of view, it was noticed that the ambivalent feelings of the families toward the young with mental retardation can some tunes obstruct their professional route. The mentioned ambivalence can be seen in the form of hostile attitudes as well as in the form of overly caring and protection, revealing the conflict between the non-recognition of the productive capacities of the people with mental retardation on one hand, and the belief in the overcome of the imposed limitations on the other hand. This way, the gains achieved through the professional experience tend to be seen with distrust by the families in which the stereotypes regarding the mental retardation remain unalterable.
