ABSTRACT

Objetivo: estimar a prevalência de cárie e a dieta de escolares, na faixa etária de seis a 12 anos de idade. Metodologia: foi realizado estudo transversal, com 150 escolares na faixa etária de seis a 12 anos. Foi avaliado o índice ceo-d e CPO-D de acordo com os critérios da OMS e foram feitas entrevistas individuais, sobre hábitos alimentares. Resultados: a prevalência de cárie em ambas as dentições foi de 76,6%, o CPOD médio 1,67 e o ceo igual a 3,00 (±2,73). Do total de crianças, 72 (48,0%) nunca tiveram experiência de cárie na dentição decídua e 38 (25,3%) apresentaram ceod igual à zero. A maioria dos escolares (92%) consumiam alimentos cariogênicos durante o lanche, com a frequência de 2 a 3 vezes ao dia. Conclusão: a prevalência de cárie foi alta na população estudada, necessitando maior atenção de programas educativo-preventivos voltados a esse grupo.


Aim: to estimate the prevalence of caries and the nutrition habits of scholar child, on the rage from six to 12 years. Methodology: a transversal study was done, including 150 scholar child on the rage of six to 12 years. The ceo-d and CPO-D (CLR-T) rates were analyzed in according to OMS rules, individual interviews were done about feed habits. Results: the prevalence of caries on both dentition was 76,6%, the average CPO-D 1,67 and the ceod rate was equal to 3,00 (±2,73). From all child, 72 (48,0%) had never an experience of caries on deciduous dentition and 38 (25,3%) showed a ceod equal to zero. The majority of scholar child (92%) had the habit of eat cariogenic foods during the snack time, with a 2 or 3 times daily frequency. Conclusion: the prevalence of caries was low on the permanent dentition and moderate in deciduous, needing a higher attention from preventive educative programs specific to this group.
