ABSTRACT
The study was carried on 25 patients suffering from essential hypertension. 20 normotensive individuals were selected by systemic random sample of comparable age, socioeconomic standard and smoking habits. The mean of diastolic and systolic blood pressure was higher in hypertensive. The mean serum and urinary sodium among hypertension was significantly higher than in normotensive, while the mean serum and urinary potassium showed be slightly to lower values among hypertensive group. Serum aldosterone was higher in hypertensive but the difference was statistically significant serum creatinine urinary creatinine, and creatinine clearance was statistically insignificant

In a group of Egyptian manganese of dry battery section from Kaha Company chemical production expounded to manganese fumes for periods of 22 years. The changes in serum minerals such as iron, cooper, zinc, calcium, magnesium, potassium and sodium were investigated. The results revealed an increased in blood manganese concentration association with a decrease in blood hemoglobin. A significant decrease were also observed in the levels of serum iron, calcium and zinc, while these of serum copper and magnesium were significantly elevated. However, no definite correlation could be found between the levels of serum sodium and potassium in the exposed non-exposed workers

Manganese has a toxic effects on the workers exposure at a production units. In Egypt the military industry started since about 30 years and growing rapidly as many hundred workers are engaged in such industry and become economic in Egypt comparing to other countries. It has been necessary to carry out the present study to throw light on chronic manganese poisoning
