ABSTRACT

Background: The clinical manifestations, mortality rates, laboratory and imaging findings of SARS-CoV-2 infection are not yet fully elucidated. Aim: To describe the clinical manifestations, imaging and laboratory findings of 164 SARS-CoV-2 (+) patients consulting at an emergency room of a public general hospital in Santiago, Chile. Material and Methods: Review of medical records, imaging and laboratory results of 164 patients aged between 16 and 92 years (57.9% males) consulting at the emergency room between March 12 and April 27, 2020. Results: The most common presenting symptom was dry cough in 47% of patients, followed by headache in 42% and myalgias in 42%. Forty five percent referred contact with an infected patient or having travelled out of town. Thirty-three (20%) required hospital admission and 5% required admission to an intensive care unit. Conclusions: These patients were predominantly young, and their most common symptoms were dry cough, headache and myalgias.

ABSTRACT

La diabetes mellitus (DM) es una enfermedad compleja que incluye varios síndromes caracterizados por hiperglicemia. A continuación se detalla el caso de un paciente de sexo femenino de 65 años, con diabetes II que desencadena un coma hiperosmolar no cetósico por infección de tracto urinario (ITU). El objetivo de la revisión de este caso es recordar esta patología, y crear un algoritmo diagnóstico terapéutico.


Diabetes mellitus (DM) is a complex illness which includes several syndromes characterized by hyperglycemia. We are detailing the case of a 65-year-old female patient, with diabetes II which triggered a nonketotic hyperosmolar coma because of an infection in urinary tract (IUT). The objective of the check-up in this case is to review this pathology, and to create a therapeutic diagnostic algorithm.

Tipo de estudio: En el Hospital SOLCA Guayaquil se realizó un estudio retrospectivo monocéntrico longitudinal de 619 fichas estadísticas de mujeres diagnosticadas con cáncer cervical entre ellas, cáncer in situ y cáncer invasor de cuello uterino, de los cuales se revisaron 135 expedientes clínicos del cáncer tipo invasor solamente. Objetivo: el objetivo fue establecer su incidencia, su relación con diversos factores de riesgo y su estadio clínico, topográfico, tipo histopatológico y método diagnóstico.
