ABSTRACT

One hundred and fifty cases with signs and symptoms referable to urinary tract infection were analyzed in the jPaediatric Department of Women and Children Hospital, Abbottabad. The most common presenting features were fever, vomiting, failure to thrive and dysuria. E.Coli ktebsiella, proteus and pseudomonas were the most common organisms which were isolated. Sensitivity to gentamicin, cefatoxime and nitrofurantoin was remarkable

ABSTRACT

Twenty two cases of pleural effusion were studied in the detail in the Paediatric Department of Women and Children Hospital, Abbottabad. Thoracentesis was done in all the cases and pleural fluid subjected to microscopic examination, culture and sensitivity including culture for Acid fast bacilli. Most of the cases were acute pyogenic in nature and required tube drainage and antibiotics. Only two cases were of tuberculous aetiology
