ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE: To establish a method for the determination of formic acid in urine by automatic headspace-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry. METHODS: The urine sample was added with 3 mL 15.00%(V/V) sulfuric acid ethanol and heated in an automatic headspace sampler. The formic acid and ethanol underwent an esterification reaction to produce ethyl formate which was separated by gas chromatographic column and detected by mass spectrometer. The quantification was based on external standard method. RESULTS: The linear range of the method was 2.93-97.60 mg/L, with the regression equation correlation coefficient of 0.999 5. The detection limit was 0.65 mg/L and the minimum quantitative limit was 2.17 mg/L, with the recoveries of 95.61%-106.47%. The within-run relative standard deviation(RSD) ranged from 2.52% to 8.05% and the between-run RSD ranged from 6.58% to 8.42%. CONCLUSION: The method has simple pretreatment, good specificity, high precision and has little interference. It is suitable for large scale rapid determination of formic acid in urine in occupational contact population, patients with acute methanol poisoning and general population.

ABSTRACT

Objective To observe the effect of mirror therapy on persistent pain after breast cancer surgery, and to improve the quali-ty of life of the patients. Methods From September,2016 to June,2017,62 patients with persistent pain after breast cancer surgery were selected. They were randomly divided into control group(n=31)and mirror group(n=31).Both groups received routine re-habilitation,and the mirror group received mirror action in addition,30 minutes every time, five times a week for four weeks. The severity of pain was assessed with Numerical Rating Scale (NRS) before treatment, and four weeks, eight weeks and twelve weeks after treatment. The quality of life was assessed with European Organiza-tion for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life Questionnaire-30(EORTC QLQ-C30). Results Eight and twelve weeks after treatment, the NRS score was lower in the mirror group than in the control group (F>5.907,P<0.05).Twelve weeks after treatment, the total health status score of EORTC QLQ-C30 was higher in the mirror group than in the control group(t=2.128,P<0.05). Conclusion Mirror therapy could relieve the persistent pain after breast cancer surgery, and may help to improve the quality of life of the patients.

ABSTRACT

Objective To explore the value of axillary MRI in differential diagnosis of metastatic axillary lymph nodes in patients with breast cancer. Methods Axillary MRI was performed in 44 breast cancer patients proved by pathology.Long axis, short axis, cortex thickness,ADC value, hilus, margin, perifocal fat gap, signal intensity on DWI,enhancement pattern and time-signal intensity curve were analyzed. The diagnostic ability of long axis, short axis, cortex thickness and ADC value were analyzed with ROC curves. Results Twenty-four patients (24/44,54.55 %) were proved with metastases axillary lymph nodes, the other 20 patients (20/44,45.45%) were negative.Long axis, short axis, cortex thickness,ADC value, hilus absence, irregular margin, fuzzy perifocal fat gap, high signal intensity on DWI and heterogeneous enhancement showed statistically significant between patients with metastatic and without metastatic axillary lymph nodes (all P<0.05).The area under ROC curve of long axis, short axis, cortex thickness and ADC value were 0.797,0.765,0.848,0.749 respectively. Conclusion MRI plays an important role in differential diagnosis of axillary lymph nodes me tastasis. The cortex thickness larger than 0.54 cm can help to predict metastatic axillary lymph nodes.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND:There are most single-center studies about bone marrow stem cels applied to treat decompensated cirrhosis, but the therapeutic results are not ideal. It is possibly related to aging, physical weakness, poor bone marrow hematopoietic function, less available number of stem cels and feeble ability of regeneration and proliferation in liver cirrhosis patients. Umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cels are characterized of easy to obtain, wide source and weak immunogenicity. Co-transplantation of bone marrow stem cels and umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cels may improve the therapeutic effects on decompensated cirrhosis patients. OBJECTIVE:To investigate the efficacy and safety of co-transplantation of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cels and bone marrow stem cels on decompensated cirrhosis.METHODS:Thirty-two decompensated cirrhosis patients were randomly divided into two groups: in stem cel group, 13 patients received co-transplantation of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cels and bone marrow stem cels based on regular medical treatment; in control group, 19 patients only underwent the regular medical treatment. Al the patients were folow-up for 1 year. Alanine aminotransferase, albumin, total bilirubin, prothrombin time, Child-Pugh score and Model for End-Stage Liver Disease score, 1-year survival rate, Quality of Life score and adverse reactions related to stem cel therapy were observed and recorded in the two groups at 4, 12, 52 weeks after treatment. RESULTS AND CONCLUSION:At 4, 12, 52 weeks after treatment, improvements in the liver function, prothrombin time, Child-Pugh score and Model for End-Stage Liver Disease score were found in the two groups, but there was no difference between the two groups (P > 0.05). At 4 weeks after transplantation, the clinical symptoms and Quality of Life score in the stem cel group were significantly improved, which were better than those in the control group (P 0.05). In addition, the 1-year survival rate showed no difference between the two groups, and no severe adverse reactions related to stem cel therapy occurred during the folow-up. Co-transplantation of umbilical cord mesenchymal stem cels and bone marrow stem cels is safe and effective to improve the clinical symptoms of decompensated cirrhosis patients. However, further studies with larger samples are warranted to better clarify the co-transplantation effects.
