ABSTRACT

The purpose of this paper is informing the present status of health services rendered to the hispanic community in the United States of America. This discussion could be useful as the difficulties are similar to those found in Colombia among people that migrate from the rural areas to the cities, and among users that are of different social and economic status to that of the health professionals. This differente status might result in differente concepts of health and disease. This report is divided in three sections. The first seciton characterizes the hispanic population in the USA. In the second section, aspects related to the use of health services by this community are discussed. And finally, in the third section the problems that are frequent in the management of these patients are analized.
