Este artigo tem como base diálogos realizados sobre a casa, com suas moradoras. Verificamos seus conflitos, seus desejos, mas, sobretudo a necessidade de manterem suas referências construídas ao longo da vida. A casa é permeada pelo sentimento de conquista, afetividade, privacidade, independência, autonomia e segurança; agrega valores econômicos, sociais, emocionais e de saúde, exercendo influência na vida dos idosos, no seu bem-estar. O artigo traz uma reflexão sobre o ambiente domiciliar e os desejos de seus moradores nas entrelinhas de suas falas. Evidencia a responsabilidade dos profissionais, bem como da família e da sociedade de proporcionar e viabilizar as correções e recursos necessários para que as futuras gerações de idosos possam viver melhor que os antecedentes em sua casa, seu domínio, seu espaço afetivo.

This article is based on conversations about the home with their residents. We checked their conflict, their desires, but rather the need to keep their references builted throughout their lives. The home is permeated by a sense of achievement, affection, privacy, independence, autonomy and security, adding economic, social, emotional and health values, influencing the lives of elderly people, in their welfare. The article reflects about the home environment and the desires of its residents between the lines of their speeches. Highlight the responsibility of professionals, as well as family and society to provide and make possible the necessity of corrections and resources so the future generations of older people can live better than their ancesters in their home, their domain, their emotional space.

O ambiente da velhice no país: por que planejar? / The environment of aging in Brazil: why does it need planning?

O processo do envelhecimento é, hoje, objeto de várias pesquisas no mundo. No Brasil, tem deixado de ser apenas uma preocupação da saúde e socioeconômica, tornando-se uma preocupação de várias áreas da ciência pelas necessidades e exigências do mundo que envelhece, considerando-se o meio em que vivem, seja o espaço público ou seu domicílio. Pesquisas demonstram que o ambiente domiciliar agrega valores econômicos, sociais, emocionais, afetivos e de saúde ao longo da vida, e exerce influência na vida dos idosos, no seu bem-estar. A casa representa o maior bem conquistado ao longo da vida, o que implica o não desejo de mudar, permeado pelo sentimento de conquista, afetividade, bem-estar, privacidade, independência, autonomia e segurança. O artigo traz uma reflexão sobre o ambiente domiciliar e a complexidade que envolve o envelhecimento. Discute a contribuição para políticas públicas e habitacionais que contemplem os projetos residenciais acessíveis e adaptáveis, considerando as mudanças fisiológicas e funcionais do ser humano, proporcionando ambientes que permitam uma relação harmoniosa em todas as fases da vida, contribuindo para o bem-estar e a permanência do idoso em sua casa, seu espaço afetivo.

The aging process is currently the focus of various studies around the world. In Brazil it is more than just a medical and socioeconomic concern. It is becoming a preoccupation of many additional areas of science due to the needs and demands of the aging population, considering their living environment, be it the public space or their residence. Studies demonstrate that over the course of lifetime, the home environment aggregates economic, social, emotional, affective and health values, and exerts a strong influence on the life and well-being of senior citizens. The home represents the most valuable asset acquired over the course of their lives. This implies that they do not want to move, given their feelings of achievement, affectivity, well-being, privacy, independence, autonomy and security. The article brings a reflection regarding the home environment and the complexity involving aging. It discusses the contribution for public and housing policies which consider accessible and adaptable residential projects, taking into account the human beings’ physiological and functional changes, building environments that allow a harmonious relationship in all phases of life, and contributing to the well-being and ability of senior citizens to stay permanently in their homes, their emotional space.
