ABSTRACT

A two-year retrospective study of dacryocystorhinostomy in the Department of Ophthalmology, Siriraj Hospital was conducted, from 1 January 1985 to 31 December 1986. There was a total of 194 cases, 17 male (8.76%), 177 female (91.24%). The youngest was 5 years, the oldest was 86 years, average age was 48.92 years. Age group found with the high incidence 40-49 years 50 cases (25.77%), and 60-69 years, 43 cases (22.16%). Patients over 40 years of age had 144 cases (74.23%), 9 males (6.25%), 135 females (93.75%). Operations to eliminate dacryocystorhinostomy were successful in 191 cases (98.45%), and unsuccessful in 3 cases (1.55%). All 3 cases later had tubing performed.
