ABSTRACT

To examine the influence of polycystic overies on pregnancy outcome. This study was performed on sixty women who have sonographic evidence of polycystic ovaries with or without raised luteinizing hormone [LH] to follicle stimulating hormone [FSH] ratio over two years duration using ultrasound and endocrinologcal tests. No significant difference was found in pregnancy rate between women who had raised LH:FSH ratio and those who had not [p=Ns], but miscarriage rate differed significantly with higher incidence among those with raised ratio [p=0.018]. for women who have had recurrent spontaneous abortions, there was no significant difference in pregnancy rate [p=NS] between those with raised and normal LH:FSH ratio, but showed higher incidence and significant difference in miscarriage rate [[p=0.03] among those with raised ratio. For women with androgenic manifestations, there was no significant difference in pregnancy outcome between those with raised and normal LH:FSH ratio. The raised LH:FSH ratio characterizing the polycystic ovary syndrome is a significant predictor of pregnancy outcome. Women with raised ratio have increased tendency to miscarriage

ABSTRACT

Malformation of the female genital tract can be associated with various urinary tract anomalies, but double uterus with partially or completely obstructed vagina, and ipsilateral renal aplasia is quite rare. The clinical presentation varies, depending on the utero- vaginal relationship which may obscure the true diagnosis. Because menses in patients with this syndrome are rarely regular, the physician can easily overlook the possibility of this diagnosis. We describe a case of didelphys uterus associated with haematocolpos and ipsilateral renal agenesis presented as acute abdomen
