ABSTRACT

The main purpose of this study was to compute, for the first time, mortality rates based on the experience of Kuwait insurance companies, since they use foreign mortality tables in calculating their life premiums. Data were collected from Kuwait insurance companies covering the period from July 1st, 1985 to June 30th, 1989. For practical convenience, the census method was used in calculating the mortality rates, taking into consideration that the data is grouped in quinate age groups. Graduation was done by the Kernel method [a non-parametric method]. Finally, the new Kuwaiti graduated mortality rates were compared with the current mortality rates and profound discrepancies were found
