ABSTRACT

A comparative study off Aswad operation and other operations for entropion trichiasis was done in 240 cases. The results with Aswad operation were excellent in cicatricial entropion trichiasis of both upper and lower lid either primary or recurrent compared with other operations. Many cosmotic advantages were recorded especially in the lower lid

ABSTRACT

This work shows that traumatic cataract behaves differently than senile cataract specially on intra- ocular lens implantation. According the experience and follow up of 6 different operations with closed and opened trauma; with primary and secondary anterior and posterior chamber implants they describe new concepts and lines. Authors advise conservative treatment for months in closed and small coapted wounds before surgery. They advise primary implantation, whenever surgical interference occurs to avoid frequent operations. Anterior chamber lenses are superior to posterior chamber in these particular cases due to frequency of posterior synechia. Anterior capsule has to be removed completely but posterior capsule is better left untouched. Posterior synechia is better undisturbed also as it recurs again. Healon is better than air injection in anterior and psterior chamber except in cases of vitreous injury. Corneal wounds are better well-closed by continuous sutures and implantation is done through a separate limbal incision. The research shows than phaco-emulsification gives better results than needling or curette evacuation in traumatic cataract generally. Ocular implants are very safe in this type of cataract
