ABSTRACT

Over a six months period, 28 pregnant burn patients admitted in the Burns Unit of Dow Medical College and Civil Hospital, Karachi were evaluated with regard to their age, gravida, duration of pregnancy, mode of burn, and outcome of patient and pregnancy. In 20 patients the foetus was aborted and in 5 patients there was still birth. Three patients delivered live babies. Eleven months survived their injuries, and four left against medical advice while 13 succumbed to their injuries. It was concluded that maternal and foetal mortality is directly proportional to the extent of burn
