ABSTRACT

The relationship between optimistic view in life and health variables has been confirmed in many studies. In the majority of researches, the relationship was studied in non-clinical populations. Given the few researches in clinical groups, this study was carried out aiming at evaluating the correlation between the optimistic views and general health in a group of cardiac patients. This study was conducted as a descriptive-correlational study. The statistical population comprised all cardiac patients of the Mustafa Khomeini Hospital in Tehran during 2010-2011. In this study, 110 patients as research units were selected by random sampling from the patients of Mustafa Khomeini Hospital in Tehran and research instruments were administered on them. For data collection, general health questionnaire [GHQ-28] and optimism [LOT] were used. Data analysis was done using descriptive statistics, Spearman correlation, Mann-Whitney test, and regression analysis. In this study, there was a correlation between optimistic view and general health [r=0.77, p<0.001], and both subscales of optimistic view had significant predictive power for general health. According to the results of this study, results showed that by increasing hope for the future, optimism and a positive attitude to events [positive thinking], and general health increased in the cardiac patients and anxiety, depression, and social dysfunction decreased

ABSTRACT

This study investigated the relationship between NEO personality factors with happiness in the Mobarekeh city high school students. For this purpose, correlation design study, 120 students from first year to pre-university from high school [in base 30] from Mobarekeh city, were selected by combination of cluster and stratify sampling and responded to inventory of the Oxford happiness [alpha=0.91] and the NEO-FFI personality questionnaire [alpha=0.81]. Data analysis by Pearson correlation coefficient indicated between the components of conscientious, agreeableness, extraversion, there is a positive correlation with happiness levels. These components, respectively, at 0.0001, 0.0001 and 0.001 were significant. Between neuroticism and openness there was not a correlation with happiness levels. The results indicate that by programming for education and thriving components of conscientious, agreeableness and extraversion we can increase happiness in this age group

The role of psychological separation of means of achieving an independent sense of self with no need to break with parents has been proved in young person or adult compromising specificity in different cultures. This study was conducted with the purpose of assessing the correlation between psychological separation from parents and general health in a group of medical students. In this descriptive study, 200 medical students were selected using random sampling, and research tools were conducted for them. General health questionnaire [GHQ-28] and psychological separation [PSI] were used for data collection. The data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and t significance test for dependent samples, and regression analysis. The significance level of differences was considered p<0.05. In this research, there was a significant correlation between psychological separation and general health [r=0.73] [p<0.001]. Also, the results of regression analysis showed that the psychological separation subscales in girls group can significantly predict general health. According to the results of this study, psychological separation and achieving it play an important role in various aspects of health [physical and mental] in medical students
