ABSTRACT

The aim of the present work is to develop fast dissolving tablets from the solid dispersion of Tenoxicam for enhancement of solubility. The solid dispersions of Tenoxicam were prepared with Kollidon CL, PVP K30 and Poloxamer 127, in 1:1:1, 1:2:1 and 1:3:1 by using solvent evaporation method. The prepared solid dispersions were analyzed for all the physical parameters, drug: carrier interactions like FTIR, SEM, XRD. Solid dispersions showed a better dissolution compared to the pure drugs and among all the other formulations SD9 shows high percentage drug release i.e. 99.11 ± 5.17% for 90 min and selected as an optimized formulation for the preparation of fast disintegrating tablets of Tenoxicam. Gellan Gum, Fenugreek Seed Mucilage and L-HPC (low, middle and high concentrations) used in the preparation of fast disintegrating tablets prepared by direct compression method using 33 Response surface method. The post compression parameters of all the prepared tablets were within the limits. TF13 was selected as optimized formulation based on its highest disintegration time 36 sec and drug release 99.68 ± 1.52% for 10 min. Drug-excipients characterization also revealed that there is no interaction. Hence it concluded that solid dispersions incorporated fast disintegrating tablets is very useful approach for immediate release of Tenoxicam in the efficient management of inflammation and pain.

ABSTRACT

In addition to high cost of treatment, anterior cruciate ligament tear leads to lesser participation in sports, secondary injury and mental problems. Therefore, prevention of ACL injury in athletes is a top priority in many studies. The aim of this study was to conduct a review over screening tests for neuromuscular imbalance causing non-contact ACL injuries. Scientific citations search engines such as PubMed, Medline, and Science Direct were looked for relevant articles using the following keywords: "Screening Test", "Neuromuscular Imbalance" and "Non-Contact ACL Injury" during the previous two decades. Hop tests have high reliability and there is a statistically significant correlation between lower extremity symmetry index of this test and isokinetic knee extensor strength. Static and dynamic balance tests have high reliability and validity and their results have correlation with ACL injury. Both double-leg squat test and single leg squat test are used to assess poor neuromuscular control of the trunk, dynamic flexibility, strength of hip, and balance. Modified Landing Error Scoring System Tests are used to identify movement patterns that increase the risk of non-contact ACL injury. In order to identify the most common neuromuscular imbalance related to ACL injuries, we used tuck jump test. Video drop-jump screening test was used to assess valgus alignment in knee. Familiarity with reliable and valid screening tests related to non- contact ACL injuries will be of benefit to researchers specialized in ACL for prevention of injuries. They will be able to select appropriate tests to identify neuromuscular imbalance in people at risk of ACL injury. Therefore, researchers can provide more specific corrective exercise programs

ABSTRACT

Using titanium dioxide nanosilver packaging which is antibacterial and resistance to the diffusion of gases such as oxygen is increasing in food industry. Therefore we compared the effect of titanium dioxide based nanosilver packaging and conventional polyethylene packaging - on fungal flora of consuming bread in order to increase the shelf life storage of consuming bread. One hundred forty four samples of 6 different types of loaf of bread randomly obtained from 12 bakeries in District 2 of Tehran. The samples were packaged with 3%, 5% and 10% nano coatings and also conventional polyethylene coatings as control group. The bacterial examination and monitoring of samples, according to the national standards of Iran was carried out 3 times, on days 1, 3, 7, 14 and 28, of study period. This study showed that the film type and storage period, were main factors which significantly influenced fungal flora of bread. The lowest rate of various fungi growth [%14] was observed in 10% Nano film, while the highest rate of various fungi growth [47%] was observed in conventional polyethylene coating [P<0.001]. With increasing storage periods, the number of various fungi increased, however this correlation was not similar in most of breads and fungi types. There were significant difference between them [P = 0.001]. According to the results of the present study, due to increasing population growth and in order to improve food security, using packages with nanosilver particles which are based on titanium dioxide, prevails over the polyethylene packages. Therefore using such packages are highly recommended in bakery industry
