ABSTRACT

3 male patients with cutaneous sarcoidosis are reported. Systemic involvement has not been detected and they are periodically checked for possible future systemic spread. The first case was a male patient who presented with wide spread multiple cutaneous nodules affecting forehead, nostrils, upper arms, thighs and trunk. The nodules were asymptomatic and had a violaceous color and erupted over a period of 2 years. The second patient had nasal rim lesions of 7-8 months duration. The third patient had papular lesions of the face of 6 months duration. All cases were diagnosed on histopathological findings. The treatment given and the patient response is discussed

ABSTRACT

Pyoderma gangrenosum [PG] is an ulcerative skin condition of uncertain aetiology. This paper reports nine cases seen in two years at the Hamad General Hospital, Doha, State of Qatar. The clinical presentations varied and are described as pustular, ulcerative, bullous and superficial granulomatous or vegetative PG. The diagnosis was confirmed by histopathology; some being repeatedly biopsied. The most distinctive histopathologic features are summarised. Some aspects of PG are pointed out concerning its epidemiology, clinical picture, diagnosis, associated systemic conditions, aetiology and management

ABSTRACT

The description of Inflammatory Linear Verrucose Epidermal Nevus [ILVEN] was elaborated and clearly defined by Altman and Mehregan in their report of 25 cases in 1971. They considered [ILVEN] to be a distinct variety of linear epidermal nevus. The lesion of the [ILVEN] appears as an eczematous or psoriasiform band and is often mistakenly called linear psoriasis. The histological features of [ILVEN] are characteristic, and show moderate acanthosis, papillomatous thickening of the epidermis, elongation of the rete ridges, spongiosis with spotty areas of parakeratosis, and mild perivascular lymphocytic infiltrate in the upper dermis. Altman and Mehregan in their report, summarized the features of their 25 cases as follows: Early age of onset, Predominance in females, Frequent in the left lower extremity, and Lesions showed marked resistance to treatment. We here present a case of Inflammatory Linear Varrucose Epidermal Nevus which first appeared at the age of 35 years, in a male, involving the right lower extremity and cleared completely after treatment by a combination of intralesional steroid and topical [steroid plus salicylic acid] without recurrence after one year follow up
