ABSTRACT

Serum levels of FSH, LH, estradiol, prolactin, progesterone and testosterone were determined in umbilical vein blood in a group of normal neonates [30 males and 30 females] born at the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Zagazig University Hospitals. The mean values of FSH, LH, and testosterone were significantly higher in male neonates than in females. The endocrine system in male fetuses is more dynamic and differs from that in female fetuses
