ABSTRACT

The maintenance of natural dentition under optimal function, health and aesthetics conditions is the main objective of dental treatments, but when therapeutic possibilities are exhausted, dental extractions become necessary. Bone remodeling due to post-extraction alveolar healing may result in volume changes in the region. This topic is common in renowned dentistry scientific publications and several researchers recommend tissue regenerative procedures and seek solutions minimize volume reduction. Among these procedures, the immediate installation of implants in post- extraction sockets without flap elevation is an alternative that guarantees functional and aesthetic benefits in the final result of the rehabilitation. This paper presents a clinical case that shows a practical and viable alternative therapy for adequate alveolar healing. In this clinical case, the use of immediate implants and personalized healing abutments with flowable resin composite reduced alveolar healing remodeling and allowed the preservation of the gingival architecture and to obtain an ideal emergency profile for performing the permanent prosthesis supported by implant.

ABSTRACT

The provisional restorations are extremely important because they anticipate the definitive treatment. The smoothness of those restorations should get closer to reality to provide periodontal health. This study aims to verify the roughness on different methods of polishing on three brands of acrylic resins. Ninety specimens were made and these were divided into nine groups. Each resin tested was given a control group. From the data obtained by descriptive statistics, were tested within groups. Statistical inference was made by two-tailed tests. Results: we concluded that the resin Classic thermicpolymerized allows a better polish when compared with Luxatemp® Bis-Acryl resins and Dencor® thermoactivated respectively and mecanical polishing was more effective than chemical ones the three types of resin.

ABSTRACT

Background: Restorative materials must be capable not only of restoring the patient's masticatory function, but also to rescue the self-esteem of those maculated by a disharmonious smile. Among the esthetic materials available on the market, the choice frequently lies between ceramic or indirect laboratory resin restorations. Aim: This study assessed the resistance to compression of two laboratory resins found on the market, namely Artglass® and Targis® , considering Omega 900® ceramic from Vita as control. Materials and Methods: With the aid of stainless steel matrices, with internal dimensions of 8.0 mm diameter at the base, 9.0 mm in the top portion and 4.0 mm height, 15 test specimens were made, being 5 of each material to be tested. The test specimens were kept in distilled water for 72 hours and submitted to an axial load by the action of a point with a rounded tip 2 mm in diameter, adapted to an EMIC 500 universal test machine. The compression speed was 0.5 mm/min, with a load cell capacity of 200 Kgf. Results: The means of the results were calculated in kilogram-force (Kgf). The results found were treated by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and the differences found among the groups were identified by the Tukey test (5%). Conclusion: It was observed that the material Omega 900® offered significantly greater resistance to compression than the other two materials, which did not present statistically significant difference between them.
