ABSTRACT
A mordida cruzada anterior é caracterizada pela relaçãoanormal entre os incisivos superiores e inferiores, e deve ser tratadaantes que interfira no crescimento esquelético. O presente caso clínicodescreve o tratamento de um paciente especial, que apresentava osincisivos cruzados, porém, posição de topo a topo em relação cêntrica,e relação molar de Classe I bilateral, características que permitiam autilização do plano inclinado fixo. Apesar da falta de cooperação inicial,por causa da remoção do plano e do aparelho fixo pelo paciente, acorreção da mordida foi obtida após um período mais longo de tempo.Os resultados deste caso demonstram a efetividade do plano inclinadofixo quando bem indicado e da necessidade de maior controle, seutilizado em paciente especial.
Anterior crossbite is an abnormal relation among upperand lower incisors, and it must be treated before jeopardizes the skeletalgrowth. The present clinical case describes the treatment of a specialpatient, who had crossing incisors, but cusp-to-cusp relationship incentric relation, and bilateral Class I molar relationship, features thatallowed the installation of a fixed inclined plane. Despite the initiallackof cooperation, because the plane and fixed appliance removal by thepatient, the crossbite correction was achieved after a slightly longerperiod of time. The results of this case show the efficacy of the fixedinclined plane when is well indicated and the necessity of more controlif it is used in a special patient.
