ABSTRACT
Objetivou-se investigar o cuidado oferecido à criança infectada pelo HIV/AIDS. Pesquisa exploratória e descritiva, com abordagem qualitativa, realizada no ambulatório pediátrico de um hospital público, referência para doenças infecciosas em Fortaleza, CE. Os informantes foram 17 cuidadores de crianças com HIV, as quais se encontravam em atendimento ambulatorial no referido hospital. A coleta de dados ocorreu durante os meses de fevereiro a maio de 2009, por meio de entrevista semiestruturada e questionário socioeconômico, no qual foi traçado o perfil dos cuidadores. Os dados foram analisados, utilizando as seguintes categorias temáticas: Criança com HIV precisa de cuidado, Assistência do cuidador à criança com HIV, Vivenciando o preconceito e É difícil cuidar da criança com HIV, mas meu filho é uma criança normal. Percebeu-se que diversos fatores influenciam no cuidado da criança com HIV, mas que os cuidadores buscam a melhoria da qualidade de vida delas, considerando-as como normais, apesar dos estigmas determinados pela sociedade.
Aimed to investigate the care offered to children infected with HIV / AIDS. Exploratory and descriptive research, with qualitative approach, carried out in the pediatric clinic of a public hospital of infectious diseases in reference to AIDS in Fortaleza. The informants were 17 caregivers of children infected by HIV / AIDS outpatient waiting in the hospital. Data collection occurred during the months of february to may 2009, through semistructured questionnaire on socioeconomic status, where to draw the profile of carers. After description of the data, these were analyzed, emerging themes: Children with HIV need care, Caregiver assistance for children with HIV, Children with HIV and prejudice and is difficult to care for the child with HIV, but my son is a normal child. It was noted that several factors influence the care of children with HIV, but that caregivers seek to improve the quality of their lives, considering them as normal, despite the stigmas set by society.
