ABSTRACT

The transition metal complexes of Co[II], Ni[II], and Cu[II] derived from N'-[[5-[2,5-dichlorophenyl]furan-2- yl]methylene]-2-hydroxybenzohydrazide [L24] and N'-[[5-[2, 5-dichlorophenyl]furan-2-yl]methylene]benzohydrazide [L21] have been synthesized by conventional as well as microwave method being shorter time consuming, solvent less and gives improved yields as compared to the traditional conventional technique. These compounds were characterized by melting point, TLC, FTIR, 1 H-NMR, elemental analysis, potentiometric titration, ICP-OES and EIMS. From this analytical data it is confirmed that complexes are in octahedral structure with coordination number 6 which revealed 1:2 [metal:ligand]. FTIR data shows that these synthesized hydrazone ligands have ONO donor sites and coordinate with transition metal ions in a tridentate monobasic manner. All these synthesized compounds were tested for evaluation of antibacterial activity by agar disc diffusion assay and total antioxidant activity by Phosphomolybdenum method

ABSTRACT

To find out a possible relationship between the use of oxytocin to induce and accelerate labour and subset' development of neonatal hyperbilirabinemia, 150 full term newborns were studied. These included 52 children born to mothers, whose labour was induced by oxytocin, 48 children born of spontaneous vaginal deliveries and 50 children delivered through lower segment caesarean section. The results showed a definite increase in serum hilintbin of infants horn after intraparlton use of oxytoc as compared to infants born of spontaneous vaginal delivery and lower segment caesarean section. Possible factor associated with this phenomenon have been discussed

ABSTRACT

Serum Cholesterol, Serum High Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol [HDLC], HDLC/Cholesterol ratio and Body Mass Index were studied in 200 randomly selected children aged 5 to 15 years and belonging to various socio-economic back ground. There was little or no difference between the lipd Ts of various income group. Serum Cholesterol, Serum High Density Lipoprotein Cholesterol [HDLC] and weight were positively correlated with the age. Boys and girls attained their adu1tvalues be age of 13 years and above. Age related increase in serum cholesterol level was more rapid than corresponding increase in HDLC level

ABSTRACT

Serum uric acid! values in 1113 male and female diabetic subjects were estimated and compared with 60 controls. There was a sample but significant elevation of mean serum uric acid! values in the diabetic group as compared to the controls. The serum uric acid! values in the female diabetics were correlated significantly with obesity, but not in the males. No case of hyperudcaemic [uric acid > 7 mg%] was recorded In the diabetic and control groups
