ABSTRACT

A proposta do presente estudo foi analisar o efeito do vídeo game Wii Fit da Nintendo®sobre o equilíbrio e a marcha de idosos saudáveis. Participaram 10 idosos, de ambos os sexos (4 homens e 6 mulheres), com idade média de 66 (±4,4) anos, os quais foram distribuídos de forma aleatória em dois grupos: grupo experimental (GE) e grupo controle (GC). Foram avaliados: o equilíbrio pela estabilometria, utilizando-se um baropodômetro eletrônico; o tempo de apoio unipodal e a capacidade funcional pelo teste Timed up and Go antes e após o protocolo de treinamento com o game Wii Fit da Nintendo®, que consistiu de 10 sessões, com duração de 30 minutos cada. Quatro jogos foram selecionados e visavam o treino de ajustes posturais, estimulando o jogador a realizar oscilações corporais ântero-posterior e médio- lateral. Os resultados mostraram um aumento no tempo de apoio unipodal e uma redução no tempo de execução do Teste de Timed Up and Go do grupo que realizou o treino de equilíbrio com o Wii Fit da Nintendo®(GE), porém não houve diferença quando comparado com o grupo controle. Dessa forma, não se pode afirmar que o treino de equilíbrio com o vídeo game Wii Fit da Nintendo®tenha sido eficiente para promoção do equilíbrio corporal e capacidade funcional dos idosos estudados.


Due to the aging process, older people use information in different ways in which sensory and motor information cause changes in balance and gait. Therefore, the aim of this study was to analyzethe effect of Wii Fit in the treatment of balance disorders and gait of healthy elderly. Participated the study 10 elderly of both sexes (4 men and 6 women), with an average age of 66 (± 4.4) years, which were distributed randomly into two groups: the experimental group (GE) and control group (CG). The following variables were evaluated: the balance by stabilometry, using an electronic baropodometer; unipodal support time and functional capacity by the Timed up and Go test before and after the training protocol with the game Wii Fit from Nintendo®, which consisted of 10 sessions, lasting 30 minutes each. Four games were selected and were aimed at the training of postural adjustments, encouraging the player to perform body oscillations anterior-posterior and medial-lateral. The result observed was a improvement in the values of one foot stand and Timed Up and Go test of the group that held the balance training with theWii Fit of Nintendo®, however there was no difference when compared with the control group. Thus, one cannot say that the balancing training with video game Wii Fit from Nintendo® has been effective in promoting body balance and functional capacity of the elderly studied.
