ABSTRACT

This study included forty hemodialysis patients aiming at identifying the main stressors experienced by those patients and the effect of counseling on their reduction. The patients sociodemographic and medical data were collected using an interview schedule. A hemodialysis stressor scale was developed to assess the patients stressors before initiating and after completing a counseling intervention [one hour twice weekly for one month]. The findings have revealed that counseling was effective in reducing all of the physiological stressors and most of the psychosocial ones except social relation, cost factor and job interferences

ABSTRACT

This study aimed at investigating the effectiveness of psychological care on promoting compliance of burn patients with their therapeutic regimens. The sample covered 40 adult burn patients. Selection criteria were patients with more than 15% burn surface area, ability to communicate, and free from psychiatric problems. Necessary data were collected using an assessment sheet to identify the psychological problems and coping scale to identify the coping patterns of the burn patients, in addition to a behavior rating scale to measure the changes in burn patients behavior pre and post-psychological care. Findings revealed a significant improvement in the burn patients' compliance with their therapeutic regimens, Chi-square test was used at 5% level of significance

ABSTRACT

This study aimed at the assessment of the nurses knowledge and attitudes towards epilepsy A sample consisting of 273 nurses working in different hospital departments, at three University hospitals in Tanta, Menoufiya and Zagazig was chosen. The results revealed a deficiency in the nurses' knowledge about epilepsy. However, they had a moderately positive attitude towards epilepsy. Although more than half of them considered epilepsy a mental illness, they agreed that epileptics must learn in special schools. It is recommended that all in-service training programs for nurses should emphasize epilepsy management, rehabilitation of epileptics, and how to change public attitudes towards epilepsy

ABSTRACT

This study was conducted to determine the alderly health problems and family care presented to them. The study was carried out in four NCR centers in Zagazig. The sample was composed of 275 women, having elderly members in their families, they were interviewed individually at the NCR center. The results showed that the main elderly physical problems were decline in daily activities, impairment of vision and digestive and urinary disorders. Psychological problems as mentioned by their families were agitation, depression and low body image. While the main identified socio-economic problems were loneliness and limited income. The family care presented to the elderly, the results showed that the low social class families bad poor consideration as regards nutrition of elderly, regular physician visit, foot care, and personal hygiene. It is recommended to provide health education the family about aging process problems and needs of elderly people. well as health education to the elderly themselves to motivate them to seek medical advice at regular intervals and integration of geriatric care in MCH centers
