There were 60 oligospermia cases, 19 azospermia, 5 asthenospermia and 2 patients were found to be normal on repeated semen analysis. Varicocele was encountered in 19 patients [21.6%]. ABSTRACT

Clinical and ultrasonographic examination of the scrotum was performed in 50 patients with scrotal lesions as well as in 10 controls. The sonographic findings were verified in these patients, either by surgical exploration and /or histologic examination. Patients with suspected inflammatory were given appropriate treatment and followed up. Ultrasonographic examination shoed very high sensitivity in the diagnosis of solid and cystic scrotal lesions and the differentiation of intra-testicular from extra-testicular swellings. However, sonography had a limited ability in detecting the histopathologic nature of testicular tumors. The overall accuracy of ultrasonic diagnosis of intrascrotal swellings was 92%

ABSTRACT

Seventy-five patients underwent ureteroscopic extraction of their ureteric calculi. Their ages ranged from 20 to 64 years. They included 53 fresh and 22 recurrent stones. Stone retrieval was achieved in 61 cases. The mean hospital stay was 5.4 days. Operative complications occurred in 29 patients, mainly due to ureteric injury. Postoperative complications included fever in 32%, pain in 26.7% and hematuria in 45.3%. All patients were followed up for a period of 1-3 months. Late complications included bacteruria in 15/33, vesicoureteral reflux in 5/28 and urethral stricture in 2/30 cases. In conclusion, ureteroscopy is an invasive procedure which is not free from complications. Factors such as patient selection, method of dilation, experience of the surgeon and strict aseptic techniques should be considered to reduce its adverse effects
